Bio

PatriAmore

PatriAmore is more than just a band! PatriAmore is a way of thinking and living that the law is trying to condemn. We represent every person out there who feels that he and his family have been used, lied to, and threatened.
PatriAmore consists of Ryan Mclellan on drums and percussion, Robby McLellan on bass guitar, Caleb Schmidt on lead and rhythm guitar, and Johnny Hodge on vocals.
Ryan and Robby McLellan are brothers that have played and written music together since the ages of seven and eight years old.
Ryan started pounding on pots, pans and buckets since he was old enough to pick up drumsticks. When he was eight years old his parents realized his gift for music, and bought him a drum set. After three years of playing, he went on to win Stars of Tomorrow. When he was in middle school he entered a drumming competition where he beat out a drummer with twenty years of experience on him! Needless to say, Ryan has become one of the most reputable drummers in the Midwest.
Robby McLellan started off playing guitar with his brother when he was seven years old. Robby and Ryan played together in local talent shows where they showed their natural ability to entertain at a young age. After three years of playing guitar Robby was asked to join a local band as the bass guitar player. He picked it up instantly and realized his true passion was playing bass guitar. Through Robby and Ryan’s fifteen years of experience together, they give PatriAmore the ability to write and play complex rhythms, while staying tight.
Caleb Schmidt has been singing and playing guitar for over eleven years. Through his eleven years of experience he has developed a unique tone that gives PatriAmore the capability to compose heavy music without compromising melody. Caleb met up with Ryan and Robby when he was in middle school. Over the next ten years they played in bands together, as well as with other musicians.
Johnny Hodge has been playing and writing music for over fifteen years. He grew up singing and playing guitar in bands such as Division Against, and Dirtboys. This has made Johnny into a well rounded musician. In 2005 Johnny joined up with Ryan, Robby and Caleb to create what is now PatriAmore. Johnny brings to the stage a level of intensity that can only be seen at a PatriAmore show.
PatriAmore has played at such venues as the Starlight in Ft. Collins, CO. The Aggie theatre in Ft. Collins where they performed with Prong and the Dwarves, Illiff Park Saloon in Denver,CO. Pink E’s in Denver, Bender’s in Denver, Cricket OnThe Hill in Denver, The Larimer Lounge in Denver, Bruno’s in Denver, The Grimm Reaper in Denver, The Coach House in Loveland, CO. And Alexander’s in Loveland. The list keeps growing.
PatriAmore entered a national contest on Garageband.com, where they placed 49th out of 284 other competing bands. It was also on Garageband.com where they won these awards! Track of the day, Best male vocals in metal, best Bass in metal, best lyrics in metal, best beat in metal, most original in metal, and rocking track in metal.
The band has donated the song “Sin and Sorrow” to a compilation C.D. The proceeds from the cd go to the Boys and Girls club of Larimer County. Through this C.D. PatriAmore has earned air time on Colorado radio stations. PatriAmore has also become a regular on the K.C.S.U. play list. This is the Colorado State University radio station.
Some of the musicians and bands that have been an influence in the writing of PatriAmore’s music are Tool, Mudvayne, A Perfect Circle, Suicidal Tendancies, Pantera, Smashing Pumpkins, Nonpoint, Black Flag, Tom Morello, Less Claypool, Dave Nevarro,
Vinny Paul, and Dimebag Darrel R.I.P.
PatriAmore is one of the tightest live bands you’ll ever see! They have created a type of music that has complex rhythms, heavy guitar lines, unique melodies, and powerful vocals with lyrics that question the ability of our leaders to make our decisions. They want to bring attention to the fact that the real war is a battle for education and consciousness. Movement towards the unity of strong good individuals. And to get away from false fears, as well as social, and financial pressures. Money, religion, racism, law and war will all be topics of discussion in, and around their music.
