Biography

Patrick is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter originally from Montreal. As a teenager, he would often rifle through his parent’s vast vinyl collection. It was then he developed a great love for classic soul, Gospel, Rn’B, rockn'roll and blues. Some of Patrick's many influences include Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, Fleetwood Mac, Lauryn Hill, Sly and the Family Stone, The Rolling Stones and Bill Withers.

Growing up in Montreal, by the time he turned sixteen; he was performing in local R&B shows, and was even featured as guest vocalist on Canadian rap artist Karma Atchykah's first album. Patrick was trained in classical voice at Vanier College's music department. While studying there, he gained invaluable experiences, including a singing spot in a rock band and performances at various hip hop and RnB shows.

It was in college that Patrick decided to form a band to perform the songs that he'd been writing since his teenage years. Once in University, Patrick was asked to perform at the Montreal International Jazz Festival's 2006 Big Event --- a Paul Simon Tribute Concert, featuring Daniel Lanois, Sam Roberts, Colin James, Elvis Costello, Holly Cole, and others. The show, attended by 150,000 people, was subsequently broadcast on Bravo, ArTV and CBC television.

Having performed all across the new england area and southern Canada, Patrick launched his first full length album to a packed house on May 27th 2007 at Petit Campus in Montreal. The album received notable airplay across USA, Canada and France and prompted Patrick to tour during the summer, including performances in the International FestiBlues, Mont Tremblant Rhythm Festival, The Montreal FunkFest and the CTV Television 'Telethon of the Stars'.

After signing with Justin Time Records in 2010, Patrick's second disc ‘The Electric Soul Kitchen Vol.1’, was release in stores nationwide and online on March 8th 2011. Lehman wrote, arranged and produced each and every track. The first single "Prove Myself to You", which was co-produced with Bill Swazlowski (April Wine, Marjo) has received major airplay on radio CBC2 and national college radio. Within just two weeks of its release, it had entered the top ten urban/soul chart in Chart Attack magazine and entered in several top ten college radio soul charts including CKXU-FM and CJAM-FM.

In 2011 Patrick won first place at the International FestiBlues 'Rising Star' award, performed at Canadian Music Week and was asked to produce music for fashion designer Elizabeth Kosich for her New York City Fashion Week 2012 runway show.

This is Patrick's third album and features 11 brand new recordings which fuse the sounds of classic soul and rockn'roll influences.

Lyrics

Prove Myself to You

Written By: Patrick Lehman

Well I have seen this place before
I have seen and read the words upon your door
Well it’s a mystery to me, how you insist to change the looks but keep the keys
Your sacrifice has come too late
Well you made a choice and you chose to wait
That bell that hangs up on your wall
Well it’s gonna ring baby, one day after all

How many times must I prove myself to you
How many times is it gonna take to see the truth
How many days must I wait
Just to get next to you
How many times must I prove myself to you

Well I have seen your white flag
I have seen and read the words upon your back
And I can tell you’d take the chance
But then you’re reminded of your circumstance

Can you hear my plea
My necessity
Incessantly
Have you chosen me

I Can See It In Your Eyes

Written By: Patrick Lehman

I need to be guided
In the souls of my feet
I’m often bright eyed and
I've got no release
Kept up in this box
'Cause I need to break free
I'm not doing the things, not seeing the things
That I want to see
I’ve seen pressure and pain
Seems its comfort to me
And you’ve been dealing with things
That ain't so obvious to me
you’ve been cooped up inside
I can see it in your eyes

I can see it in your eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes

You’ve been hurt before
But you won’t let that on
You’ve been missing something
And it’s been lost for so long
Deprived and hypnotized
That love wasn’t meant for you
But I’m here to say
I can see that you want it

So long, you’ve been waiting to see
Been so long you needed redemption
It’s been so long, you’ve been waiting to see
Been so long, you’ve needed redemption

Stop Pretending

Written By: Patrick Lehman

It's been a long time
You've been on my mind
I had given up
This feeling's farmiliar
My love's gone bitter
So abrupt
It seems it's passed some days
Got me amazed that I forgot you
Not to torture myself
I regain my health
I catch myself before I fall

It's 4 am and I lie back
Chasing dreams
Shuffle on repeat, sit back in my seat
A moments peace
All I need is a guarantee
Is time on my side, will I succeed
I brace myself, regain my mental health
Can we just stop pretending

Not sure where we stand
Would you call me friend
As the days pass me by
I'm scared to invest
My happiness
On something that wouldn't last

It seems it's passed some days
Got me amazed that I forgot you
Not to torture myself
I regain my health
I catch myself before I fall

It's 4 am and I lie back
Chasing dreams
Shuffle on repeat, sit back in my seat
A moments peace
All I need is a guarantee
Is time on my side, will I succeed
I brace myself, regain my mental health
Can we just stop pretending
