"Horror Punks: "Scary Tales" EP Review"

These guys are really fun. Clean vocals, screaming, even some death grunts, distortion, clean production, and ripped from the crypt lead guitar lines. ok. This EP grows on you. It kicks ass more and more as it goes on. And before you know it, its all over. I’m impressed with the work on this album. It is super clean, super polished, and super rehearsed. Each track seems to know what is above it and below it just well enough to know how to flip and flail within their own space. Nothing spills over, and nothing feels too long or forced. Its really cool, and a welcome change from a lot of horror-rock where lack of ability is played off as intentional. These guys are accomplished especially the voices! God, the vocals on this EP are impeccable. They rotate and mutate through guttural, soaring, clean, cracking, and brutal from one moment to the next. If these guys are a part of the future of horror-rock, then thank the dark lord Danzig himself. - horror-punks.com

""Scary Tales" EP Review"

Patron Saint of Plagues are a horror rock band and a Canadian horror rock band at that. Being a horror rock band, you might well be expecting something entertaining of their EP “Scary Tales” and you won’t be disappointed.

Throwing themselves in to their songs with theatrical levels of enthusiasm, Patron Saint of Plagues are never less enjoyable as they turn the volume right up and express their post punk meets metal madness energy right into your ears. The drums thump, the guitars riff and the vocals sound like the product of a sixty a day smoking habit and, in its own over the top way, this collection of songs is actually fun. Deadman Walking”, for example, swaggers like it was four bars from the Rocky Horror Picture Show and “Invader Zim” could easily have been from some European melodic metal band if it were not for the fact that Patron Saint of Plagues sound like they are actually having fun.

Anyway, if your spirits are in need of a lift then maybe you should give Patron Saint of Plagues a chance. - Bluesbunny

"Check out Patron Saint of Plagues: Things ARN’T What They Seem"

"I’ve been following PSOP for just a short time but I like their sound and their style. Not only is it awesome that they are Canadian but this video drops just in time to help you enjoy the Halloween season! I’ve often said that music and the horror community are so intertwined it’s ridiculous. These guys Ooze the culture and are providing us with a pretty bad-ass soundtrack at the same time." - Splatterpictures

"Ottawa Horror Punk!"

"They’ve been inspired somewhat by other theatrical bands like Misfits, Alice Cooper, etc. However, I am not suggesting that they are copying anyone. They share a common interest and aesthetic, and a similar love for LOUD, FAST, rockabilly-inspired rock ‘n roll." - Ottawa Citizen

"Roadrunner Records"

"They wear Tim Burton-ish skull-face makeup and play a style of punk rawk that's part psychobilly, part pop-punk and lots of fun. Give them a listen, and remember them when you're looking for music to soundtrack your Halloween party." - Roadrunner Records Webmaster

"Do you know jack about Canada?"

"Okay, so they have a lot of the typical trappings of a horror punk band. They have the scary makeup and three chord riffing. But, what sets these guys apart is the fact that they aren’t afraid to use an acoustic guitar every now and again. This, in my humble opinion, makes them even more creepy in spots. And, for that I tip my polar bear hat in their direction." - Jack Antonio

"Sign me To - Review"

"Blending punk, industrial, metal, and melodic rock can be a Russian roulette and PSOP pulls it off - at the same time delivering a story that piques my interest far beyond anything other theatrical horror bands have delivered." - Lydia Peever

"Definete Horror Edge"

Put simply, this is one of the BEST sounding bands in this genre I've ever heard. - OttawaHorror.com

Bio

When the dark of night falls and the moon is your only remaining friend, call three times through the fog and their silhouettes will appear!

The Horror Rock trio, Patron Saint Of Plagues, will infect your mind with their macabre melodies and undead anthems. Merging reality and your worst nightmare, demonic frontman Opi Saint gave birth to this Ottawa based band in 2006 and is joined by his favourite ghouls; Robbie Graves the grave digger on the bass guitar and Bonez the skeleton on drums.

With their unique style and ghoulish fantasy world, PSOP traverse the musical forest. Spreading their music like a virus, they have already contaminated most of Canada. Having shared the stage with many great acts including Wednesday 13, The Creepshow, The Brains, and Koffin Kats, the band tours within Canada frequently. With two full length CDs and three EPs, including the recent Scary Tales 2, you can't out-run their eerily catchy music and fierce web presence.

This virus has no remedy, and with no signs of slowing you will be infected from the very first note. Listener beware, you're in for a scare!
