Bio

With a voice that reaches beyond the vocal cords and into the depths of the soul, lyrics that sing of life, love, and heartache, and creative visions that push him seamlessly through life’s trials and tribulations, Patryk Larney is emerging onto the singer-songwriter scene with a passion for music, an ear for production, an eye for artistic development, and a genuine respect for the music community in New York City.

From the birth of his first cassette recording, “Feeling Known,” in 1995, penned in the depths of the luscious farmland where his simple love for family and home was nurtured, Larney has pursued singing, songwriting, and playing music to its fullest extent. After years of developing a diverse career and strong following with former band “Naked Underneath,” a group Patryk co-fronted with singer-songwriter brother Michael Larney, the two turned to the studio built in their home attic to record and share their abundant collection of self-written songs. Briefly signed with Bodyguard Records, Larney’s artistic desire overpowered the limited industry vision, abandoning the former contract and paving the new path that led to the EP “Coffee With Luka” and the record “Fifty Miles From Hope,” both completely produced, recorded, engineered, and performed by Patryk and Michael.

“Fifty Miles from Hope” gave audiences a taste of real, raw talent, offering a anthology of songs that string lyrics and melodies together, each piece sparkling individually, brightly bursting with truth and intensity when listened to as a whole; subtly bringing listeners back and reminding them of Larney’s strong attachment to his roots. Since that 2006 release, Patryk has taken time to focus on more songwriting; building the new chapter in his career with a 2008 move to New York City, marked by his most recent EP release “Farewell Buffalo.” Produced by Mike Visceglia and Zak Soulam, “Farewell Buffalo” ties together the next leg of his journey, designating his solo break into the indie scene and setting a place at the table of the music community in NYC, a vibe that reads like a second family to many of the artists pursuing life and careers in this massive town.

Patryk has graced the stage of many NYC, New Jersey, and LA music staples, including The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, Maxwell’s, The Stone Pony, Mercury Lounge, Sterling Hotel and The Roxy, enjoying the opportunity to play with revered musicians such as Mike Visceglia and Doug Yowell, as well as participating in the prestigious New York Songwriters Circle. In addition, Larney has organized and implemented a three-day music festival entitled “Buffstock,” held on the vast acreage of the property he grew up on. “Buffstock” brings together musicians, family, and friends to camp out and enjoy music for the weekend, reminiscent of the days when people enjoyed music and art for it’s own sake, featuring artists stripped, acoustic, and simplistic in the most serene setting of nature; a festival that intertwines the lives of strangers and friends to create an atmospheric escape based on Larney’s pure adulation and desire to share music. Next on the horizon for this inventive artist is another EP to be produced by Dave Pittenger, featuring five completely new, unreleased songs, as well as a music video for Patryk’s single “City in the Fall,” the bonus track on “Farewell Buffalo.”

As the setting sun casts a light shadow on the first half of his career, the rising, beaming rays on Larney’s future are brighter than ever, shedding light on the road where his dreams are exploding to life. A constant need for the new, a hunger for creative success, a timeless quality, and the drive to make it happen will ensure Patryk Larney, a singer-songwriter whose heart bleeds music and eyes sing of hope, a solid place in the music scene for years to come. - Bio by Christina Morelli- Music Critic NYCARTSCENE.com
