Bio

Paua are not your standard reggae band.

They have proven on stage and in the studio their ability to produce an undeniable presence and chemistry that crosses over and reaches any audience.

2010 saw Paua really take off, starting with their hour-long live set recording for local Brisbane radio station, 4ZZZ. The response was incredible, catapulting Paua’s music to stages across Australia and New Zealand and to airwaves around the world.

From there, Paua hit Australia’s live music scene hard, winning fans at festivals, clubs and pubs all over the East and West Coast.

With the 2011 release of Paua’s self-titled debut album, the bands popularity grew ten-fold and saw their smash hit “Coming Home”, reach #7 on the 2012 iTunes Reggae Chart.

With two tours to New Zealand under their belt by mid-2012, Paua had established themselves as one of Australia and New Zealand’s most promising upcoming reggae acts.

As further confirmation, Paua were very honored to receive two nominations at the 2012 Waiata Maori Music Awards - 'Best Song by a Maori Artist' and 'Best Urban Roots Album'. Jay - Lead Singer/Songwriter also received an individual nomination in the category of 'Best Maori Songwriter'.

To finish off a year that can also be described as just the beginning for the Brisbane based band, Paua were invited to share the stage alongside reggae giants ‘Katchafire’, ‘Herbs’ and ‘1814’ at the hugely popular 2012 New Years Eve Festival – EXODUS.

Although the band members grew up in vastly different musical backgrounds, they came together for the mutual love of music and reggae.

As Jay says, “The way we see it is like this; our sound is organic, created from the heart and soul. If you make music from the heart, write words from the soul and give it your all every time you perform, then just maybe others will feel it too. Not talking business, just music."

In July 2013, Paua announced the release of their new single "Feel the Fire" taken from their forthcoming sophomore album scheduled for release later in the year.

Paua invite you to join them in this very exciting, highly anticipated sequel of the PAUA REGGAE MUSIC Journey.
