"relief-haiti-local-connection-help-need"

Sheryl Crow, Colbie Caillat, Jewel, Paul Beaubrun, and the musical headliner for the evening, Brad Paisley, provided the entertainment. Beaubrun, who was born and raised in Haiti, stomped on the floor—after he pointed out his Southern-style blue suede shoes—and pounded on his guitar as he sang a soulful “No Woman No Cry” and reminded guests that many in his home country don’t know where they will get their next meal. “Think about it. Think about it,” he keened. - http://nashvillearts.com/

"PAUL BEAUBRUN & ZING EXPERIENCE TALK MUSIC AND NEW ALBUM “VILNERAB”"

Zing Experience fuzes vodou rock, reggae, roots as well as hip hop, but in a recent recording I heard some very bluesy sounding guitar riffs. Can you tell me if your sound is now leaning towards blues?

The blues has always been a part of me, it is a true form of music with a lot soul. I rely on it and i will keep honoring it the best that i can. I don’t like to say that my music is any particular type of genre. I prefer to let it come from within me and not limit myself by remaining in any one sound. I think roots rock comes from a history of many different sounds and by bringing them all together. - http://www.rhythmfoundation.com

- http://www.terrassadigital.cat

Bio

A scion of Haitian musical royalty Paul has spent his life living to the beat. Son of the Grammy nominated band Boukman Eksperyans, his earliest memories are of rhythm and sound. Moving to New York as a youth he was inspired by his heritage to begin crafting a sound all his own. Constantly aware of his roots, the struggle of an immigrant and the drive of New York life, Paul began to create a path where music, activism and history meet.

A unique and transfixing sound he calls 'Roots/Blues', Paul weaves his impeccable guitar skills, rich vocals, musical ingenuity and cultural history together; all while performing a smooth melange of both English, French and Creole (the native tongue of his Haitian roots).

Paul Beaubrun has been playing many of the most coveted venues in the country alongside some of the world’s best artists including Ms. Lauryn Hill, Arcade Fire, Maxwell, Jackson Browne, Emmanuel Jal, Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow and David Byrne in venues such as Beacon Theatre, Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Massey Hall in Toronto, The Ryman Theatre in Nashville (formally the Grand Ole Opry), House of Blues in Chicago just to name a few. Paul also performed on Hollywood Today Live in Los Angeles, invited by the accomplished actress Garcelle Beauvais.

He has performed at several internationally recognized festivals/venues such as:  The Montreal Jazz Festival, Festival Internationale Nuits D'Afrique in Montreal, the Paleo Festival in Switzerland, No Siesta Fiesta in Norway, Leaf Festival in North Carolina along with several in the Caribbean. These continued accomplishments make him one of the few artists coming out of Haiti to garner worldwide success.

Paul joined forces with the Not for Profit Artists for Peace and Justice, becoming an integral part of their mission. Paul is currently working in collaboration with Jackson Browne, who aptly named him “The Monster”, in collaboration with several other artists including Jon Russell (The Head and the heart), Jonathan Wilson, Habib Koite, Jenny Lewis and Raul Rodriguez on an upcoming album for APJ. He also continues to be an active member and perform at their many events in the USA and Canada. This allows Paul to do what he loves to do; play music while also furthering awareness of Haitian art and culture. He loves promoting the incredible talent of Haiti’s youth.

Paul released an album titled 'Vilnerab' in 2015 which soared directly to #1 on iTunes in the World Music category, receiving rave reviews. In 2016, He was nominated for a DORA Award by the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts for Outstanding Sound Design/Composition in the production of ESPWA/ESPOIR.

He received the prestigious Unesco-Aschberg Artist in Residency Scholarship in 2011, in Montreal, Canada where he headlined the annual Musique Multi-Montreal Festival.

Paul has now set his sights on expanding his audience by way of his music and is set to release an EP inspired by his Creole/Haitian heritage in English this spring 2017.
