"Interview with All Access Music"

“His unapologetic blend of rock, country, folk and soul has gathered a following that have allowed him to begin touring along the east coast and release this album. It certainly showcases his refined talent and “knack for memorable melodies and soulful, bluesy delivery.” Magic is more focused, with a raw, driving rock and roll style.” - All Access Music

Bio

Kentucky native Paul J. Phillips moved to New York City 15 years ago where he performed in the city’s Americana and alt-country scene.  Two full-length releases later, Phillips returned to the studio with multi-platinum indie rock producer Kieran Kelly (Angus and Julia Stone/Sufjan Stephens) to craft a new direction - one of raw, driving back to the basics rock and roll.  After the release of the mini-album Magic in 2013 and the recording of the soon to be released full-length “Here and Now” with Kelly, Phillips moved to Nashville to build on the new sound.  The new record, slated for a fall 2015 release, is full of lush harmonies, “soulful, memorable melodies” and raw driving guitars that blur the lines between indie rock and Americana.  Phillips has teamed up with local rhythm section Timothy Nobles and Derry Delamar (Josh Rouse, Statistics) to bring a fresh new voice to Nashville’s budding indie scene.
