Soulfully Nostalgic Music with a Modern Flair! Singer-songwriter takes you back with Nostalgic cover tunes and forward with original expression. Paula’s presentation touches, soothes, educates, and entertains with versatility, considerate volume, & melodic sound (you can even hear the words)!

Biography

Paula performed folk & pop music as a soloist, top-40 & oldies dance music in a duet, later returning to nostalgia & show tunes as a soloist again in more recent years.

Her writing has similarly spanned styles from folk to adult contemporary pop, jazz & blues, country-rock, additionally including some child-friendly material.

Always a strong vocalist, her instrumentation stayed in the background, allowing the audience to hear the lyrics, and connect with the emotions of any given song presented.

Paula has worn many hats through the years from vagabond to wife, musician to agent, creative soloist to board-member, teacher to parent. Her life experience touches every song and her every song touches someone's life.

Her first original CD, appropriately named “Renewed”, was released in October 2007. It contains both old & new original numbers from sweet to sultry presentations. The essence of “Renewed” includes selections with common threads of blues & jazz. The musical arrangements enhance the vocals to highlight lyric expression, each song with it's own unique character. With new - yet old/wise ideas, both contemporary and nostalgic issues to express, find some gritty blues, mellow jazz, a folksy lullaby, thoughtful musical poetry, a sultry Latin piece, and a few jagged edges of rock & roll. Top that off with some contemporary ballads and there is a little something for everyone!

Since releasing "Renewed", Paula has been working on a variety of new original pop pieces that range from "feel-good" old-fashioned love songs to musical portrayal of some contemporary political issues.

Future creative plans include publishing illustrated story-songs, creating music gift products, and writing original songs/poetry/copy for others.

I Think I'll Be Alright

Written By: Paula C Snyder [ASCAP]

Last night my head and heart were touched.
And when you closed the door...
I drifted into a safe, secure, loving dream.
I awoke this morning and I thought about you.
You like the rain...It was raining.
And I think I'll be alright alone tonight.

I saw a rainbow this afternoon...
As I looked to the gray skies...
The colors were still vivid.
I remembered the gray thoughts in our rainbow last night.
I hope it will work. I want to be your rainbow.
And I think I'll be alright alone tonight.
Yes, I think I'll be alright alone tonight.

I wanted to call you several times today.
I'm afraid.
Yet I know if I've seen my last rainbow for awhile.
Well, it was beautiful.
And it may be a long time before that rainbow glows again.
And I think I'll be alright alone tonight.
Yes, I think I'll be alright alone tonight.

Independence Day Blues

Written By: Paula C Snyder

Lying in bed alone, it's the 4th of July
Nothing to do, no new thing to try.
And, wondering, "where's my guy"?
So, I removed his rings, all of his things
I've got the Independence Day Blues.

In my aloneness I've done my wandering,
writing, laughing, pondering
And curiosity's gotten me trying.
So, I've done many things, crazy things.
I've got the Independence Day Blues.

Broken from family ties, learning life, finding lies -
passing loves, and sad goodbyes
Prying into my mind and my heart for the right thing to do.
I've been gifted with thought and a loving heart.
Well, I've known the right thing to do.
I've known the right thing. Yes, the right thing to do.

Still, I'm lying alone on the 4th of July.
No thought on what to do, what new thing to try.
Gave up completely on my guy,
So, I've removed his rings, all of his things
I've got the Independence Day Blues
I've got the Independence Day Blues.
I've got the Independence Day Blues.
I've got the Independence Day Blues.

Never Too Late

Written By: Paula C Snyder [ASCAP]

They tell me "You fool, It's just too late".
My body's trapped in a joke of Fate
My soul's not as old as it sometimes seems
I hear them say "Trash those silly dreams"
One day I could be a rising star
It shouldn't matter how old you are.
Living life every dreary day
Must it always go on this way?
I see a blast of neon light.
There's still a chance to get this right.

And it's never all over and you're never done.
It's not the end till the game is won.
After you win, go 'round again.
Never regret where you have been.
And it's not the end, never too old, never too late -
Never too old to rock 'n roll - and it's never too late
(never too late, never too late) for love.

They tell me "It's time to act your age"
Though my mind is trapped in an aging cage.
My brain's on hold as it sometimes seems.
I hear them say "trash your silly dreams".
One day I could be a rising star.
It shouldn't matter how old you are.
Living life in the slowest lane -
Must it always drag on in vain?
But I see a flicker of bright strobe light -
There's still a chance to get this right.

And it's never all over and you're never done.
It's not the end till the game is won.
After you win, go 'round again.
Never regret where you have been.
And it's not the end, never too old, never too late -
Never too old to rock 'n roll - and it's never too late
(never too late, never too late) for love.

They tell me "Move on from where you've been" -
Though my memory's trapped in age 18.
My heart's not as cold as it sometimes seems.
I hear them say "Trash those silly dreams".
One day I could be your rising star.
It shouldn't matter how old we are.
Moving forward, but holding back
It is the guts or the sense I lack?
But I see your smile in the bright sunlight
There's still a chance to get this right.

And it's never all over and you're never done
It's not the end till the game is won
After you win, go 'round again
Never regret where you have been
And it's not the end, never too old, never too late
No, it's not the end, never too old, never too late.
Oh, it's not the end, never too old, never too late.
Never too old to rock 'n roll -- and it's never too late
(never too late, never too late, never too late, never - never - never too late) for love.

Burn Down

(Intro counterpart) BURN DOWN BURN IT DOWN

VERSE 1a) What are you trying to hide from yourself?
Did your woman leave you up on some shelf?
Did you lose all your money on that bet you made?
Are you tossing and turning in the bed you made?

VERSE 1b) What do you need to guard from your heart?
Are you tired of falling apart?
Do you worry you'll crash and burn at home?
Or do you fear going home alone?

CHORUS: So, burn down another cigarette. Throw that hot liquor straight down You're safe in that bottle so cork yourself in. Drown all your sorrow and feel safe within
…..yes, you can feel safe within…

VERSE 2a) What dark secret are you hiding inside?
Are you mourning some soul who left you and died?
Do you fear you're just not good enough?
Are you too tired and is life too tough?

Verse 2b) Do you think you can change who you are with that drink?
Do you care too much about what people think?
And when you “come to” are you remembering All the heartache your nightmare’s gonna’ bring?

(BRIDGE) woah woah woah
You turn to spout something philosophical and put on a cute wide-eyed grin
When the words come out there’s a question of doubt And when you walk out the door you’re stumblin’.

Verse 3a) In your eyes comes that mountain of sadness.
Your heart spills out with false gladness.
Doesn't reality bite when you let it in?
Yet, tomorrow you’ll do it again.

Verse 3b) You rise from your chair trying to act really cool
But, the joke's on you, because you look like a fool.
And those folks you think you are leaving behind
Shake their heads 'cause you're out of your mind.

(REPEAT BRIDGE)

REPEAT CHORUS: end: You can feel, you can be safe within.

REPEAT TAG END TO FADE: Burn down another cigarette…

Why Do You Keep Me Hangin On?

Written By: Paula C Snyder [ASCAP]

Verse 1) Well, you told me that you loved me on the first night we met – and I turned up my nose.
You said you’d never leave me – you were lonely too. (I thought “another one of those”.)
Well, you gave me a surprise when I looked into your eyes, so, we let our feelings grow.
Now you’re gone, but you say you want me there…
Why do you keep me hangin’ on?

Verse 2) Well, you say to call you Tuesday, but you’re never home (Wednesday and Thursday too).
Then you say to call you Friday, and you’re all alone (and I hear something new).
Well, you gave me a surprise when you told me all those lies, so we let our feelings go.
And you’re really gone. You don’t want me anymore…
Why do you keep me hangin’ on?

(INSTRUMENTAL INTERLUDE)

Verse 3) I finally got in touch with you to tell you how I feel - And let it out all right.
You didn’t say a word (I don’t even think you heard). Then you just said: “Sit tight”.
And you gave me a surprise when you’re tellin’ all those lies, so, I’ve let my feelings go.
I don’t know if we’re done,
You keep telling me “hang on”

Oh, why do you keep me hangin’
Why do you keep me hangin’
Why do you keep me hangin’ on?

Michael Can You Hear Me?

Written By: Paula C Snyder [ASCAP]

VERSE 1) I’ve told you with my kiss. I’ve told you with my eyes.
I’ve told you when I miss you. I’ve told you with my lies.
You’re only near me.
Baby, do not fear me.
Michael! Michael, can you hear me?

VERSE 2) I’ve told you with my touch. I’ve told you with my words.
I’ve told you that I’m here to stay. I’ve told you with goodbyes.
You’re only near me.
Baby, please don’t fear me.
Michael! Michael, can you hear me?

BRIDGE
Michael, you’re the only one.
We can’t deny what we have done.
Let’s forget and have some fun!
Don’t waste our time away.

VERSE 3) I’ve told you when I hold you.
I’ve told you I won’t mold you.
I’ve told you with each line I write. I’ve told you each and every night.
You’re only near me.
Baby, please don’t fear me.
Michael! Michael, can you hear me?

Old 30s Blues

Written By: Paula C Snyder [ASCAP]

VERSE 1) Sweet baby, well, you love me like a man, like no other can. Well, babe, you're my man.

Woah darlin’, you warm my lips so sweet. No one can compete.
You’re such a wonderful treat!

And when you hold me in your arms and give me all your charms
It's like a dream come true!
And when you whisper in my ear or brush away a tear,
Well, no one could ever do like you do.

VERSE 2)
Well, baby, you treat me like a queen.
No, I've never seen a man like you!

Woah, darlin', you make me dream of you at night.
I want to hold you oh so tight. Yes, I'd put up a fight for you.

And when you tell me that you love me and Lay me down so gently, it's like a dream come true.

And when you stroke my longin' face Or handle me so gracefully,
Well, no one could ever do the way you do to me!

VERSE 3) Well, baby, you took your love so far away and I'm longin’ for the day when I could stay with you.

Woah darlin', as long as you want me around, I won't be on the ground, no, I'll be flyin’

(INSTRUMENTAL INTERLUDE)

VERSE 3 TO END)
Woah, woah, darlin', as long as you want me around, I won't be on the ground, no, I'll be flyin’
'Cause no one can do me the way that you do.
No one can do the way you do to me. No…! Uh-huh. m-m-m....(yeah!)

Leave Love Behind

Written By: Paula C Snyder [ASCAP]

Verse 1) The time’s come now. I’m afraid.
No headin’ back now. I’m on my way.
My thoughts have lingered on your whispered word;
My eyes on your golden hair…
But I’ll have to leave you behind.

Verse 2) The morning’s here now. I’ve come down.
Time to grow up with the dawn.
My mouth has lingered on your sweet lips;
My hands on your warming heart…
But I’ll have to leave love behind.

Bridge: What’s ahead now? I wouldn’t know. Wish I could feel it before I go.

Verse 3) The night has fallen. (Into) Nothingness.
I’m asleep now. It’s all a dream.
My thoughts have lingered on the traveled past;
My heart on that sad goodbye
I’m here, at last. Where am I?
All I have left is the love left behind.
My thoughts have lingered on the traveled past,
But I’ll have to leave it behind…
Yes, I’ll have to leave love behind.

A Quiet Love

Written By: Paula C Snyder

1) I turn & hold you in the night You reach to draw me near
I nestle my head into your neck - You listen to me sigh
Years gone by – the passion fades - But in its place instead
A quiet love - calm, perfect space - Our hearts’ old story’s read.

Chorus: A quiet love, a faithful love, forever love – a quiet love.

2) I look into your sleepy face You gaze into my eyes
I offer up a simple smile You pat my soft behind
Through the years the passion fades The fire within us dies
But in its place a quiet love Leaves a warm, surprise (CHORUS)

3) One day might find our bodies pain Too much to dance with joy.
A knowing glance will tell it all Our hands embrace the time
The end of years that fire fades, The life within us dies
But in its place a quiet love ….. Still makes our spirits rise (CHORUS)

4) (optional) A flower grows up on a hill, the wind blows sweet & low.
Birds & bees light on the trees, the fragrant Spring arrives.
The end of life - the fire fades - But Nature goes undone
‘Cause in its place a quiet love Lives through the warming sun. (CHORUS)
