Biography

Born in Madison Wisconsin July 4th, 1963, Paul Brown moved to Memphis Tennessee at the age of five where he lived until the death of his mother in '75, forcing the separation of him and his three brothers and one sister. Paul Brown was eleven years old in Nashville living in a school for the homeless, searching desperately for some way to cope when he stumbled across an old upright piano that would alter his life forever.

By age thirteen Paul Brown was playing dates with country artist Louise Mandrell and Dove award winning Christian singer Don Francisco and sponging styles ranging from Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to Parlament Funkedelic and Rap pioneers Sugar Hill. "I loved everything says Paul, I was so happy to find something I could connect with, something I could use to express all these whacked out feelings I had inside me. I remember going A.W.O.L. to see a Kiss concert that turned out to be a Parlament concert instead, that was one of the most enlightening experiences of my musical career".

Soon after his seventeenth birthday, Paul Brown left Nashville to come back to Memphis armed with a trumpet, a road atlas and an arsenal determination. One night while working at an all night Exxon Paul discovered a talent that would again alter his life. It was the gift of writing lyrics. Soon after, he landed his first publishing deal writing and arranging for various Memphis artists.

In 1991 Paul Brown met Hi records artist Ann Peebles and Don Bryant (Known for their 1973 hit "I Can't Stand the Rain"). Hired as a sub to fill in for Hi Records' organist, Charles Hodges, Paul, Ann, and Don quickly realized they had a great deal to offer each other which would ultimately result in Paul becoming Ann's music director and agent. During the Sixteen years Paul Brown has been with Peebles, tours have carried him all over the world with television performances on VH-1 and The David Letterman Show.

In 1994 Paul Brown took a year off with Ann to record and tour with East/West recording artist The Mother Station, following up with an MTV video for their smash single "Put the Blame On Me" until 1995 when Ann Peebles pulled him back in to co-write and co-produce Ann's critically acclaimed release,"Fill This World With Love".

Following that tour Paul spent the better part of 2000 producing a two more Gospel projects including an epic album on Peebles' husband Don Bryant titled; It's All In The Word set for release in the spring of 2008

Chase These Blues Away

Written By: Paul Brown/Stacy Michelle

CHASE THESE BLUES AWAY

Baby don’t you pray the way I do
You’ll wake up one morning
With someone you can hold on to

Baby don’t you wish like me inside
Someone out there somewhere
Makes you feel so glad to be alive

If you could only Love me The way you said you did
I would give you all I got to give

Just Chase these Blues Away
Just Chase These Blues Away

Baby don’t you dream like me at night
For a Love that will last you the rest of your life
Baby don’t you long to feel this way
I don’t want Live without you for one more day
I don’t want to lose you baby

If you could only Love me
The way you said you did
I would give you all I got to give

Just Chase these Blues Away - Just Chase These Blues Away

Baby I don’t want to lose ya Oh~~
Baby I don’t want to feel this way

Every time I look inside myself
It’s always you and no one else

If you could only Love me The way you said you did
I would give you all I got to give

Just Chase these Blues Away
Just Chase These Blues Away

It was Summertime – I Do Recall The wind blew – We Lost it all

Oh Me Oh My

Written By: Paul Brown BMI

Didn’t know I could feel the way I do
Then the Sun came out and I laid my eyes on you
Everyone says I’m crazy for the way I feel
If that’s how it’s gotta be, then that’s alright with me

Something in your smile
Makes me crazy
Even though I hardly know your name
I can’t deny the sunshine in your eyes when you are near and I say~~~

Oh me~~~ Oh My~~~
Whenever you walk by~~~
Oh Me~~~ Oh My~~~
Something bout you gets me high~

Saw you with your friend the other day
I moved in closer just to see your face
Everyone says I’m crazy for the way I feel
If that’s how it’s gotta be, then that’s alright with me

Cuz there’s something in your smile
Makes me crazy
Even though I hardly know your name
I can’t deny the sunshine in your eyes when you are near and I say~~~

Oh me~~~ Oh My~~~
Whenever you walk by~~~
Oh Me~~~ Oh My~~~
Something bout you makes me wanna fly~~~

I Don’t Think That I Can Last Tonight

Written By: Paul Brown BMI

When we’re lying under covers
When we hold each other close
When we’re swearin’ this is destiny
And it feels like its supposed to
Then why are we askin’ ourselves where to go from here

And if love put us together
Till the dyin’ breath we tak
If feelings seems so good
Trough the flames of the love we make
Then why are we trin’ to make feelings –disappear

A secret for me and a secret for you
Is enough to keep love from getting us through
And if the love that we make ain’t worth a fight
I don’t think that I can last tonight

There’s a closet in our minds
We don’t open any more
Builds a wall that we can’t climb
So we don’t love like once before
yet here we are tryin so hard to hold on

So many tears we’re hiding from the past
While we’re spending all our future
Tryin’ to make the memories last
And it leaves us with little or nothing –to hold on to

A secret for you and a secret for me
Is enough to keep love from setting us free
And if the love that we make ain’t worth a fight
I don’t think that I can last tonight
