Bio
Paul says ‘The only thing that sets me apart from others is just that I'm really good at it.’
My music is born out of wanting to be one of the greats. It's about wanting to leave something behind; a song(s) that people are still singing in years to come. My first and main influence was The Beatles and I can't imagine another band leaving behind such an incredible body of work but that's what I aspire to. People often say Ray Davies, or The Kinks meet Teenage Fanclub/Lemonheads when they try & describe my music, but I’d say there’s some Noel Gallagher in there, Paul McCartney, Gram Parsons.
I've been in a few bands but two significant ones. My first band The Vessels had minor success. Two singles of the week on Radio One (Mark & Lard.) We also appeared on ‘Tonight with Jonathan Ross’ although the less said about that the better.
My most recent band Brinkman were signed to EMI but only for a year with all the trouble going on there. We never quite had a chance but managed to tour with Paul Weller & Travis.
I've been playing the guitar since I was 11 after my Uncle, who claimed to be in a 60s band, taught me my first twelve bar blues riff. I didn't sing for years after recording some Beatles songs into a tape machine with my Dad when I was young and him saying, "I think I better do vocals."
