Bio

Paul Corson is a Vegas-based rocker armed with catchy lyrics and memorable melodies. Considered to be a late-bloomer to the music world, Paul didn't write his first song until his early twenties. Now in his late 20's he is finishing up the recording of his yet-to-be-titled debut album, an album vulnerable in its lyric writing, yet intertwined with the radio friendly excitement of his own catchy pop rock musical style.

In Paul's teenage years, writing poetry and prose was his passion. He was heavily influenced at an early age by "beat poets" such as Charles Bukowski, William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, and Allen Ginsberg. "I wanted desperately to live the life of a traveler, to experience life, and just write."

At the age of 18, Corson left his hometown in Southern California to fulfill his fantasy as a traveling poet. "I literally jumped ship as soon as high school was over, never looking back."

After roughly three years of traveling around North America, Paul found roots in Las Vegas where his writing journey turned into a musical one. "My girlfriend who I was living with at the time bought me my first guitar. I definitely wasn't a natural, but I couldn't put it down. That's when I knew I had something."

Corson found music to be the missing ingredient he needed to make his writing come alive. "In poetry, the color and charisma comes from the rich descriptive words used. In music, the lyric writing can be more straight-forward in meaning. You have the instrumentation supporting the words with their own special colors and emotions. I feel as though I can reveal much more with the combination of music and lyrics, than with writing by itself."

The first single off of the album is 'Midnight Train', a song which reveals Corson's hauntingly hypnotic vocal style meshed perfectly with the sensitive vulnerability of his lyrics. From the very first line of the song, "When I hear that song on the radio, I can almost feel that night when you let me go" you get a sense that he is pointing straight to the heart of emotions that everyone experiences at some point in their life. With the driving bass lines and the tasty guitar hooks, Paul Corson has definitely set a standard for himself as a musician and an artist. "My only goal is to write songs that people from all walks of life can connect to. To write the kind of songs that are important to me. The ones that get you through that tough time, or inspire you to become something more than you thought was possible. Music has that power. It's something I feel blessed to be part of."

After being introduced to Darude by a mutual friend Paul found out that "people from all walks of life REALLY do connect to" his music when he learned that after hearing the song, Darude got interested in transforming Paul's original pop-rock song 'Midnight Train' into a club shaking dance-floor track. Paul gave him complete freedom to dismantle the song and thanking for the trust Darude put it back together with killer electronic sounds, additional melodies and a totally new atmosphere, yet keeping the original lyrical vibe intact as he felt it was important for the song itself, as well as for Paul as the original creator. Paul got excited about this new field of music and is looking forward to using his talent as a singer and songwriter for more EnMass Music's electronic projects in the future as well.
