Bio
I began playing electric bass in 1968. I played sporadically for a couple of years with friends, then picked it up again in 1977 to form the band Haywire with those same friends, which morphed after several years into a band named The Desires, which lasted until 1982. When that dream died I put music aside and focused on career and family. I began playing bass again in 1997 when I joined a band which we subsequently named Along For The Ride. I now play electric bass in three bands based in the SF Bay Area - the aforementioned Along For The Ride (Original Rock), Herd Of Cats (jazz with a touch of funk) and Steve Meckfessel (jazz inflected urban folk). I contribute original songs to Along For The Ride’s repertoire.
I am now launching my own singer songwriter project. I wrote my first song in 1978 and a few more over the course of the next year or so, then nothing until the mid ’90’s when I picked up a keyboard and sequencing software and began writing again. You can hear some of these productions here.
I have contributed original material to Along For The Ride’s repertoire but I really began focusing on songwriting after attending CCMC in 2006. There I was exposed to other songwriters and a large and supportive musical community. One of the musicians I met through CCMC is Carol McComb, whose songwriting workshops at Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, CA, have become a treasured source of inspiration and compassionate feedback.
