Bio

"He Wails!" - Paul Goodyear is a charismatic entertainer and an experienced musician whose musical influences range from Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher to Dylan and Clapton.
The Paul Goodyear Band as result is dynamic and powerful blues rock combo. The individual sound revolves around continuos change and further development in the search of something new: New Blues.

Using mobil digital recording technology PAUL GOODYEAR offers his fans fresh, live CD recordings of most every gig, giving his listeners the chance to take a unique and authentic record of the show they just applauded home with them.

Paul is currently producing together with youngsters Andreas Maecker on drums and Mathius Leonhardt on bass. As usual, inquisitive for new grooves and sounds, the trio are working hard to shake the dust off Blues-rock and find new ways to interprete the genre for the 21st Century.

The Story:
Paul Goodyear recorded his first single "Certain Politicians" on the crest of the punk wave in 1978.
Moving to Cambridge in the early 80´s to join a working band "Trux" on bass, he gathered an enormous amount of stage experience playing working mens clubs, pubs, American airbase C.O. clubs and even prisons!

After moving to London to join guitarist Brian Bath (Kate Bush Band) and his BB3 project, Paul got bitten by the studio bug and decided to become a recording engineer, which eventually brought him into the Munich post-production scene in 1985. It was here, recording and mixing jingles when he met with Hans Franek (Konstantin Wecker & Willy Astor). After recording and mixing Franek´s debut album "Laut und Leise" for Ariola, Paul was asked to join the touring band playing alongside Peter Wölpl (Klaus Lager Band) and Wolfgang Schmid (Kick). He was the mainstay of the Franek band for many tours and three albums was highly regarded in the Munich scene.

In the late 90´s Paul, by then an established post-production engineer and sound-designer, moved to Hamburg where, among other things, he completed the sound design for the award winning Titanic Exhibition.
Paul took leave of advertising studio work in 1999 and to concentrate solely on song writing and getting back to his live roots and one of his projects "Pacific Stereo" was signed by Edel records.

More recently Paul has established himself as a promoter for Apple Computers, presenting professional audio software applications to musicians all over Europe, appearing alongside Helmut Zerlett, Frank Itt, Henning Rümenapp (Guano Apes), Rae Garvey & Uwe Bossart (Ramonn).
He also does voice-overs for cartoons films and diverse advertising productions.

In 2007 he released his own E.P. "Chase Away The Blues" (available iTunes, Amazon etc.).
He can be seen most every week at the Yaman Jam Session, a jazz-rock-funk-fusion jam rapidly gathering a cult status in Hamburg attracting the likes of Lee Curtis and Macio Parker.
