Paulie

Paul "Paulie" Matushek is an eclectic musician who has been playing guitar for more than 30 years. He has mastered a waterwheel of styles from funk to bluegrass, rock to blues, and country to metal.

In concert, Paulie creates an intimate experience with his audience, while creating music big enough for Madison Square Garden. His solo guitar work spirals and stops on a dime before he begins his funky, psychedelic, multi-layer looping. He starts with a single acoustic guitar loop and begins to build on it with bass and electric guitar effects, and before you know it, there is a complete ensemble cascading against the audience's senses. Paulie regularly plays solo shows exceeding 4 hours in length if not longer. His fans are first stricken by his musical prowess on the guitar, but are soon taken by his soulful vocals.

Paulie first performed his solo "loop" show more than 10 years at the Popcorn Tavern in La Crosse, Wisconsin, where he still has an established weekly gig. He has been a member of many staple Wisconsin bands including Moon Boot Posse, Bed, Whippoorwill's Secret, Stumbleweed, New Grass Revue, and Organic Banana Quartet. Paulie has also filled in as a member of the Smokin' Bandits, White Iron Band, and Shoeless Revolution.

He has been compared to Keller Williams with guitar chops evoking Trey Anastasio. You'll hear the influences of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, and of course, The Beatles.
