Paul Is Dead

Paul Is Dead is an anomaly in the Vancouver music scene. Sure, indie-famous Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Destroyer, Frog Eyes) produced both their demo EP and their first full-length at the now-legendary Hive Studios, but there is still something fundamentally unhip about them. They're not pop, they're not punk, they're marginally experimental, but shouldn't be characterized as such. The main thing to figuring out Paul Is Dead is that there is nothing fake about them, no gimmicks, no image, no worrying about what everybody else is doing. Part of that comes from growing up in small-town Chilliwack, BC, far away enough from Vancouver to not get caught up it’s fashion but close enough so your not isolated from everything and the type of thing that comes with that. It's four guys making music that they want and on there own terms. No pretense, and that's obvious once you listen to their music.
