"Album Reviews"

July 03, 2012 Jack Nelson - Power Source Magazine

Paul Tillman has a classic voice that really shines on his latest album, MEMORIES. His big voice is reminiscent of Hank Williams Jr. and Merle Haggard. On this album, Tillman tackles ten Country-Gospel songs, six of which he wrote himself. The album opens with a rocking song, "Call On The Master Of The Storm", that will make you want to tap your toes. "I'm Ready" is another positive up-tempo song on his album that is about being ready for the Lord to take him home. The ballad, "When Jesus Passed By" is another standout track on this album. Tillman also covers the song "Way Down Deep". His vocal really lends itself well to these types of up-tempo songs. The grovel in the low-end of his vocal is very unique and sets him apart from other Country-Gospel singers. The album ends with a song called "Memories" which is Tillman dedicates to his sister who has Alzheimer's disease. At the end of this song is a beautiful version of "Amazing Grace" which is a very good end to this album. - Power Source Magazine

If you love traditional country and gospel with a modern touch, you've come to the right man! Influenced by Gospel greats such as Rusty Goodman and Kenny Hinson and then by Country legends such as Merle Haggard, Vern Gosdin, & Conway Twitty, the rich, earthy tones of Paul's voice will paint a picture in your mind of times gone by. Through both singing and songwriting Paul is able to share his life experiences through his music. His songs will relate to you as an individual or as a family member dealing with life's ups and down. With the release of his first country gospel project, "Memories", he is excited to finally be sharing what has been in his heart for so long. The single "Memories", an original social issue song about Alzheimer's, has a special place in his heart. Written for his sister who is battling this disease. He hopes to bring awareness about the disease and comfort those whose lives have been touched by it. Paul is a versatile artist performing in a variety of settings: with his live band performances, on the spot with professional quality tracks or in a quaint personal solo acoustic venue.
