Pawful Of Crayons

BandPopAdult Contemporary

Like Kurt Cobain after an assault by Imogen Heap. Not that Imogen Heap is physically capable of assaulting anyone but if she were given hip hop biceps and drenched in guitar strings and west-coast drum loops then she might cause someone to make a scream/yelp that sounds like this.

Biography

I've been writing songs for about five years and have just recently decided to push forward and try and sell some! My vocal chords aren't anywhere near good enough these days to sing this stuff myself so i write away in my bedroom thinking of other people singing the tunes in either an UNKLE style studio "project" set-up or just full-on hand-over the beat and let a solo artist crack on with it. I've done live acoustic stuff, been in two bands and worked with an array of awesome artists some of whom have gone onto work with successful established acts and others that have gone back to writing like myself :O) I'm now living and working in London and working in a debut album under the moniker "Pawful Of Crayons" for label showcasing Spring 2009.

Lyrics

Something Changed

Written By: Adrian Patrick Thompson

Hold up
Stand back
You can't just talk to me like that
I know it's all some stupid act
To make your friends think you're independent.

I've sold up
Got my bags packed
'cuz i'd rather leave this than have
More and more of less and less
But i don't think we can be just friends though.

I'm Fine
Ironically - even though i know it's wrong of me

I'm Fine
I want the leases freed - are you releasing me?

Recently it's felt that things just seem
A little less fun - I don't - wanna be the one that
Keeps just ringing on and on i think we
had a good run - we showed - it's possible
To achieve a spring the sting of winter's here
And grown in some way to one
And to run away it
Seems just weak but come now, recently
It's all but gone dead, it's done.
Cuz something changed.

Something Changed
Cuz Something Changed.

Hold up
With the back chat
Lets just leave it here cuz that's
Exactly what i don't want from this
You know that cuz i said it from the outset

And hold up
If it's a bad patch
Maybe we could work on this
But oh wait no, now it's gone, had it perfect
Never could ever really see it when i found it

I'm Fine
Ironically - even though i know it's wrong of me

I'm Fine
I want the leases freed - are you releasing me?

Recently it's felt that things just seem
A little less fun - I don't - wanna be the one that
Keeps just ringing on and on i think we
had a good run - we showed - it's possible
To achieve a spring the sting of winter's here
And grown in some way to one
And to run away it
Seems just weak but come now, recently
It's all but gone dead, it's done.
Cuz something changed.

Something Changed
Cuz Something Changed.

Set List

Pawful Of Crayons debuted live in Summer this year, at the famous Hope & Anchor venue in North London to encouraging responses from a Monday night post-work, weekend-tired audience. I opened with a song called "Read You" which is a soppy ballad and typically not the sort of fast chant-along that people would expect a guy, a guitar and a laptop to start out with if they're expecting to win the crowd over. But, i like to think the melody of that track is accessible enough that the venue seemed instantly interested in what was coming next! The set then builds up with three crescendoing original tunes, all available on MySpace, and closed with a zero-backing, acoustic lament called "Who Am I To Say?" inspired by a scene at the end of the independent flick "The Noble Man" in which a guy simply questions who he is to think he deserves anything but what he's currently received from life. I like to think closing a set with a song based around a question leaves the audience considering after i
