Bio

Pawnshop started out in 1992 from the remains of several punk and metal bands.
They had all played together in other projects before, but wanted now to form a band based
on their common roots mainly from the early seventies. In the years to come Pawnshop toured
around in Norway and appeared on several compilation-albums in Europe and the States.
Years of touring gave the band a good live reputation.

In 1997 Pawnshop released their first album called "Broke" on Elephant Tanks. That year they
recorded a live concert for Norway's biggest radio station and made a video for "Running".
Norwegian radio- and TV-stations gave Pawnshop a lot of attention and the album did well
in their home country, but was never released outside Norway.

In November 1999 Beard Of Stars Records releases the long awaited second album
"Aloha From Saturn" world wide. Aloha got a lot of good reviews and Pawnshop finally got their
place in the rock scene they deserve. The album was followed by touring Norway during 2000
and finally they got to do a long awaited European tour in February 2001 together with Mark D
(ex. Melvins).

After returning from the European tour in February 2001, Pawnshop finished the recording of their
third album "Cruise-o-matic", witch was released by Beard Of Stars in March 2002. Warming up
with a mini-tour in Denmark in September 2001, Pawnshop started touring Europe again together
with The Mushroom River Band and The Awesome Machine in February 2002.

In April and May 2003 Pawnshop toured Europe again. And for the first time as headliners and
played together with Dozer from Sweden and Alix from Italy. The band spent 2003 playing festivals, did a split Norwegian tour with WE and wrote on new material.
New recordings
As we write April 2009 Pawnshop are planning their forth album release, "Atomic Baby". Never before have the band put so much effort in writing, recording and planning a new release. The new stuff is varied and heavy as ever.

2009 tour with release of new exclusive EP
Pawnshop will do a European tour in April 2009 together with Roadsaw and Church of Misery.
Since we didn't manage to release the new album until the tour starts out, we have released a new limited edition EP called "The Atomic Baby EP", witch features 5 tracks from the forthcoming album. The EP will be sold on tour.

Kick ass rock n roll...
Their main influences comes from hard rock bands from the late sixties and early seventies, as well as punk and nineties bands like Soundgarden and Kyuss. Someone once said they sounded like Sex Pistols, Kiss and Black Sabbath all jamming together. Pawnshop has been compared to bands like Monster Magnet, Kyuss, Blue Cheer and Fu Manchu as well as other Scandinavian bands like Hellacopters and Backyard Babies among fans and the press, and is often described as a stoner-,retro-, Scandinavian rock-, psychedelic-, desert-, cosmic-, sludge-,space-, heavy-rock, rock, whatever......motherfuckinband.

In other words, a band that's hard to put in any category but for sure kick some serious ass!!!!
