Energetic, dynamic, entertaining, constantly evolving. These words describe the music of Peace River Band. The Peace River Band's roots are in gospel & bluegrass music but the band has expanded it's repertoire to include an appetizing blend of original songs/instrumentals, country and folk.


The Peace River band was formed in 2006 by Kirk Ritchie, who's vision was to spread the Gospel through Bluegrass music.After his untimely death in 2007 the band members agreed to continue in his honor.

Today, this Niagara based group consists of six members led by talented lead vocalist, songwriter, and emcee Mary Lou Fitzgerald. Other band members include fiddle wizard/vocalist Jimmy Young, banjo player extraordinaire Peter Atkins, mandolin player/vocalist Bill Vickers, guitar player/vocalist Marcel Blais, and bass player/sound technician Danny Moretti.

Peace River has entertained consistently over the years at Festivals, Churchs and private functions. They were nominate in 2010 for "Country Group of the Year" by the Niagara Music Awards

Peace River Band released it's first CD in 2008 entitled Matthew. A collection of more traditional country & bluegrass songs and instrumentals. The band is currently in product on two more CDs. One will include new original songs by Mary Lou and the other will be an instrumental album featuring virtuoso talents of Jimmy, Peter and Bill. Both are due to be released in the summer of 2011.
