The poetic, original songs and extraordinarily brave vocal style (Lonnie Martin, Folk Rag) of Steph Barros Lees have endeared her to Brisbane audiences through her bands moot (brazilian-influenced folk-jazz) and maudlin (ambient-industrial trip-hop). Emerging from her years of experience is her solo project pear and the awkward orchestra, a mini-orchestra of diverse instrumentation and sparse arrangements supporting an emotive and powerful voice and gritty, personal songs. pear is currently working on final post-production for upcoming E.P. Russian Doll, 6 tracks of evocative contemporary folk which is scheduled to be released in November/December with a limited number featuring handmade covers by the artist herself.
