Bio

Based on the Isle of Skye, the Peatbog Faeries have been described as ‘the future of Celtic dance music’. They incorporate many influences which take them from traditional jigs and reels through jazz, hip hop, reggae and more.

They are Peter Morrison (pipes and whistles), Ross Couper (fiddle), Tom Salter (guitar), Innes Hutton (bass, percussion) Graeme Stafford (keyboards) and Stuart Haikney (drums).
(Plus, for larger shows their famous Brass Section.)

The band have toured all over the world and won numerous awards, including the ‘Best Live Act’ at the prestigious Scots Trad Music Awards. Their inventive and unique approach always bring to its audience a true flavour of traditional Scottish music. Their music has been used for several TV, radio and DVD soundtracks, and the band have even performed at the BBC Proms in the Park in Glasgow in collaboration with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
Their album “Peatbog Faeries Live” captures the excitement of the live band and the studio album Dust” released in August 2011 presents their “exciting New Peatbogs’ sound” that is thrilling audiences and listeners everywhere.
This is high octane Celtic dance music so be prepared to dance!

“Nothing in the recognisable front line of bagpipes, fiddles, synthesiser, bass and rhythm guitar, with a straight drum kit at the back, prepares you for the high octane music of the Peatbog Faeries! Powerful melodies are dexterously pumped out with a smart degree of techno attitude, while cross-rhythms ricochet over a heavy bass that hits you forcefully like a massive heart beat. The Scotsman

"Welcome to the weird but undoubtedly wonderful world of The Peatbog Faeries, Skye's finest, where you should always expect the unexpected- gloriously unpredictable, a band to treasure." fRoots

“Imagine The Orb meeting a ceilidh band in the mind of Irvine Welsh. This is it! Billy Nasty may have mixed pipes and dance on the decks but the Peatbog Faeries can play it live and it blew the audience away.” Edinburgh Evening News
