Bio
Every once in a blue moon, two musicians meet, start playing and it's magic. Shauna and Colyn met and started playing their brand of traditional and extra-traditional Scottish music in 2007 and have been composing, performing and recording since.
Their duo moniker comes from a famous Scottish reel of the same name.
Colyn Fischer (violin) started playing the violin at age 3 and Scottish fiddle at age 5. At age 14 he was introduced to and started playing jazz in his native Pittsburgh, PA. Colyn holds a bachelors of violin performance from Wheaton Conservatory in Wheaton, IL and is a public school music teacher by day. He is the co-director along with Shauna of the Peninsula Scottish Fiddlers, a traditional fiddle group based in the Bay Area.
Shauna Pickett-Gordon (piano)
is the co-founder of the Los Angeles Scottish Fiddlers and is the co-founder and current co-director of the Peninsula Scottish Fiddlers. Shauna has accompanied many of the great fiddlers in North America such as Alasdair Fraser, Calum Mackinnon and Laura Risk. Trained in classical piano and voice, she first learned about Scottish music from her late husband, the fiddler and acoustician Colin Gordon.
