Peggy Stern's Blood & Treasure is indeed a musical treasure, as her musicality and musicianship are in full bloom in this recording. Her imaginative and compelling compositions are realized by a band of talented players, who also make valuable contributions to the recorded repertoire. Peggy's title tune, written for Michael Brecker, is a moving work, given a heartfelt reading by Peggy, Giulio, Giuseppe, and Mimmo. One can be assured that Michael is enjoying Peggy's creations as the music wafts upwards towards the heavens. How lucky that we can enjoy Peggy and her musical compatriots right here on earth.

"gentle, yet powerful, Stern's compostions and her quartet exude a sense of connectivity as an ensemble and genuine love for music. The title track that's dedicated to the late, great Michael Brecker depicts him more than words can say."
- Dena Derose
