Peggy's country roots simmer in the heart of her songwriting. She sings with soul, tapping into the pure emotion of her songs with a smooth, resonant voice that will melt your heart.

Biography

From a very young age Peggy knew that music would be the driving force of her existence. Peggy's earliest influences stemmed from roots and traditional country. By the time she was performing regularly before live audiences, the music from artists like Gordon Lightfoot, Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, and James Taylor had also begun to shape her musical style. Fresh out of high school she toured extensively across Canada for twelve years as a solo artist as well as a supporting musician for other groups.

Hailing from a small town in the Ottawa Valley, Ontario, Canada she remembers her mother and father belting out country tunes in their dining room. She and her four siblings carried on their parents' love of music and although Peggy has branched out in her writing those roots still simmer in the heart of her tunes delivered with a soulful, resonant voice.

Peggy’s 2002 debut solo CD, 'Fair Is Fair', produced by Gerry Griffin, charted in the top 20 on the Roots Music Report Folk Chart in Europe and the US for five weeks, and in the top 100 on the Americana Chart in the US for five weeks. It was voted in at #12 on the EMS chart in Europe. Peggy has toured Canada and Australia several times.

Moving on….. after taking a few years off to raise her two sons, Peggy has released her much anticipated second CD "FALLING" which was recorded with Ken Friesen as producer and engineer. Along with a whole batch of her fresh new songs, Peggy brought together some of Canada's premier musicians including:

Bruce Cockburn,

Gary Craig, (Bruce Cockburn, Jann Arden, Anne Murray, BRK)

John Dymond, (Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, K.D. Lang, Jann Arden)

Steve O'Connor,

Fred Guignon, (Kathleen Edwards, Lynn Miles)

Ken Myhr (Jane Siberry)

Terry Tufts,

Christine Fagan,

Saffron Bradbury,

and more!

Peggy currently resides and writes her songs in the lovely town of Almonte, Ontario with her two teenage boys and their friendly dog Zack.

Lyrics

Awhile

Written By: Peggy White

Come sit with me and watch that sun fall in the sky
Come sit with me, awhile
Come lay with me, I’ll hold your body close to mine
Come lay with me, awhile
And we’ll marvel at the colours in the sky
I’ll just stay here in this moment getting lost in your eyes
Come sit with me and watch that sun climb in the sky
Come sit with me, awhile

Come walk with me down roads we’ve never gone before
Come walk with me, awhile
Come talk to me, whisper secrets soft and low
Come talk to me, awhile
And we’ll marvel at the colours in the sky
I’ll just stay here in this moment getting lost in your eyes
Come walk with me, take my hand, be my love
Come walk with me, awhile

This Chance

Written By: Gene Bruce

I feel this coming like a comet
I can feel the hole she’ll burn
I know there never was a promise, just those soft unspoken words
I tell you I’ve been torched before, but I never seem to learn

Well it’s way too bright this morning, I don’t need this light at all
To see your face and taste your kiss as I wait for your call
You have touched my heart like spring but I’m ready for the fall

What I really want to do is thank you baby
What I really want to do is show you love
You know I’ve always been a firm believer
Though I’ve come a breath away from giving up
But it don’t matter where we end up standing
To have had the chance to feel this way’s enough

I wear my heart upon my sleeve, my soul hung in the wind
I never hide behind a mask, there’s no use to pretend
You might never understand if you don’t know where I’ve been

What I really want to do is thank you baby
What I really want to do is show you love
You know I’ve always been a firm believer
Though I’ve come a breath away from giving up
But it don’t matter where we end up standing
To have had the chance to feel this way’s enough

It don’t matter where we end up standing
To have had the chance to feel this way’s enough
To have had the chance to feel this way’s enough

Choices

Written By: Peggy White

I threw out all your pictures and your birthday cards
And I’ve been doing pretty good now that we’re apart
Just because you love someone it doesn’t mean that they’re the right one
We all have choices in this life
To make a change to get things right

I don’t think of you that often, no not much anymore
The tears are now forgotten, I guess that’s what time is for
It’s been a long road back to me but I’m finally gettin’ back on my feet
We all have choices in this life
To make a change to get things right

I hear you’re doing well, your new path has begun
It’s not easy I can tell to undo all you’ve done
Ooh you know that I’ve forgiven all
It was a beautiful rise but a tortured fall
We all have choices in this life to make a change to get things right

I threw out all your pictures

Still The One

Written By: Gene Bruce

When you turn to me on your hardest day
When you reach for me I won’t fade away
If it’s love you need you can rest your heart
I am still the one

And if you come to me with your naked hand
You can count on me I will understand
If it’s peace you need you can rest your heart
I am still the one

I am still the one when you need a friend
Still the one that you may love again
Still the one and I will wait for you
I am still the one, see me standing here

If you dream of me and you’re not sure why
If you ache for me on some lonely night
I’ll be there by dawn you can rest your heart
I am still the one

I am still the one when you need a friend
Still the one that you may love again
Still the one and I will wait for you
I am still the one, see me standing here

This Lonely Town

Written By: Peggy White

You’ve got me dreaming
Wishing and weaving through the streets of this lonely town
And you’ve got me screaming
Your name to the rooftops, can’t you hear it
As it echoes down through this lonely town

I want you to tell me how I’ve come to be here without you
Staring through this window as the sky bleeds into blue
In this lonely town, in this lonely town

They say that absence makes the heart grow stronger
But I don’t feel that in this lonely town

And the night will fall and turn into another morning
I wake without you

I want you to tell me how I’ve come to be here without you
Staring through this window as the sky bleeds into blue
In this lonely town, in this lonely town
