"Roots Music Report Chart"

After hearing this CD everyone will be thinking (What A Great Voice). Peggy White has a voice that God gave a chosen few. She sings with a genuine feel for her craft. Fair Is Fair is an outstanding CD. Some of the best folk music to come our way in quite a while. - Roots Music Report Chart

"Ottawa XPress"

Almonte singer-songwriter Peggy White gets every detail just right on "Fair Is Fair", a collection of sparkling country tunes that favour subtlety over broad musical gestures. Blessed with a smooth, resonant voice, White displays a knack for tapping into the pure emotion of a song without forcing the issue; it's always about delicate phrasing and respecting the piece, particularly on tracks like "There You Stand", "Margaret Adams" and the sublime "Momentary Suicide". "Fair Is Fair" has an impressive guest list: Producer Gerry Griffin (lap steel, mandolin), Terry Tufts (guitar, mandolin, dulcimer), Kelli Trottier (fiddle) and Andy Gorham (Hammond B3 Organ) shine throughout with tasteful, understated performances that allow White's sharp melodies to take flight. A first rate debut. - Ottawa XPress

Bio

From a very young age Peggy knew that music would be the driving force of her existence. Peggy's earliest influences stemmed from roots and traditional country. By the time she was performing regularly before live audiences, the music from artists like Gordon Lightfoot, Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, and James Taylor had also begun to shape her musical style. Fresh out of high school she toured extensively across Canada for twelve years as a solo artist as well as a supporting musician for other groups.

Hailing from a small town in the Ottawa Valley, Ontario, Canada she remembers her mother and father belting out country tunes in their dining room. She and her four siblings carried on their parents' love of music and although Peggy has branched out in her writing those roots still simmer in the heart of her tunes delivered with a soulful, resonant voice.

Peggy’s 2002 debut solo CD, 'Fair Is Fair', produced by Gerry Griffin, charted in the top 20 on the Roots Music Report Folk Chart in Europe and the US for five weeks, and in the top 100 on the Americana Chart in the US for five weeks. It was voted in at #12 on the EMS chart in Europe. Peggy has toured Canada and Australia several times.

Moving on….. after taking a few years off to raise her two sons, Peggy has released her much anticipated second CD "FALLING" which was recorded with Ken Friesen as producer and engineer. Along with a whole batch of her fresh new songs, Peggy brought together some of Canada's premier musicians including:

Bruce Cockburn,

Gary Craig, (Bruce Cockburn, Jann Arden, Anne Murray, BRK)

John Dymond, (Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, K.D. Lang, Jann Arden)

Steve O'Connor,

Fred Guignon, (Kathleen Edwards, Lynn Miles)

Ken Myhr (Jane Siberry)

Terry Tufts,

Christine Fagan,

Saffron Bradbury,

and more!

Peggy currently resides and writes her songs in the lovely town of Almonte, Ontario with her two teenage boys and their friendly dog Zack.
