"¡Pendejo! - Cantos A La Vida"

Quite surprised I read very Dutch names in the line-up of this very Spanish sounding stoner rock band. It all sounds pretty genuine and natural; this is no holiday Spanish for tourists. According to an English translation of the lyrics, the songs do quite have some serious (and humor) content. Performing this music in Spanish must have some advantages, because the number of blogs on the internet in this language points out a large following. In this case it is not only the language stating the international value, but the music is certainly also of a quality that deserves to be listened to worldwide (and it is no surprise this band is appreciated very much in Spanish regions). With just a demo and the first album still in process for release, this band got the chance to be support act of Fu Manchu on their Spanish tour. With two ex-members of Dreadlock Pussy, which band was also pretty successful, they are no complete strangers to reaching a bigger audience (although this music is quite something different). With 'Cantos A La Vida' they have surely made the first step for possible international acknowledgement. This album hits you like a battering ram, including riffs and rhythms which do not always follow the easy and standard path, but still really catch the listener and stick to the mind. As one would expect with Jacques de Haard (Celestial Season, Hermano) in charge of the mastering, the sound is a real work of art. One thing deserving mentioned separately is the instrumental addition of a trumpet which gives the whole sound something creative, original and strangely fitting extra dimension. An absolute must for all those into massive stoner, who are not afraid of a zip King Crimson-like technical escapades and psychedelics ( and do not let themselves get limited just because of the Spanish language). - Lords of Metal Ezine

Bio

PENDEJO! releases its first full-length album 'Cantos a la Vida' back in 2010. Their music has been described as heavy, addictive and grooving, or as a critic once put it: "Stonerrock in Spanish with balls the size of Danny de Vito". Lyrics in Spanish about the strangest stories in life, and a screaming trumpet adding some latino flavor to the pounding riffs that characterize PENDEJO!, make this Dutch band the somewhat odd man out, and a smelly one too.

Having played mostly in the underground scene throughout Europe and Latin America - sharing stages with influential heavyweights like Fu Manchu and Karma to Burn - the band puts on a show for anyone who is not afraid to be grabbed by the cojones and thrown into a spicy puddle of chile con carne.

In 2013 PENDEJO! records its second full-length album with producer Pieter Kloos (Motorpsycho, 35007, The Devil's Blood). A first track called 'Dos!' has already been released on YouTube. The release of the new album is set to be released early 2014 by RoughTrade.
