"Classic Grand"

"This girl is truly one to watch." - www.songkick.com

"Penny Black"

"She should do for pianos what KT Tunstall has done for guitars... An incredible beginning."

Rick Fulton - The Daily Record

"Bluesbunny has the blues. Better do something about that."

Here we have an artist that uses complexity to hold our interest in her music. For those accustomed to simplistic, programmed, repetition of modern popular music what follows would surely prove a culture shock. We have an actual band playing here. We have tempo changes mid song. It all works. Black leads the band through "Peter Pan's Biggest Fan", "Stylish Funerals" and "Kangaroo" with sharply observed, almost acidic, lyrics which show her ability to give insight to the human condition.

I'm a big fan of Ms Black. She showed that she is a musical force to be reckoned with and is the real deal... An artist of class and distinction without a doubt."

"Sounds From Across the Pond"

"I’m very glad I've been tipped off about Penny’s music. A Glasgow native, she's a fantastic singer-songwriter as well as being a very talented piano and guitar player. I was impressed with the songs that she has up on her MySpace Music page... Penny is currently unsigned, but given her considerable talents, I don’t think that that will be the case for much longer."

John Curley - PowerlineAD Magazine

"Penny Black"

"Penny provides a sunburst of sound, positivity and a fiery attitide. Surely a bright future?" - Scotcampus Magazine

"Penny Black at the ABC"

"See her in an intimate venue as soon as possible because you won't have the chance to for long. Calling Jools?!" - Russell Moore - The LickMag

Bio

Over the last couple of years I have devoted my time to writing and rehearsing my live show which I now perform whenever and wherever I can. My music is usually described as "quirky piano pop" and I'm often likened to Cyndi Lauper and Kate Nash. It seems to appeal to a very wide demographic, so my fans range from school kids to pensioners! I've been very lucky to have had incredible reviews and praise from the media not long after I started out. My music has been used in a recent BBC documentary, by the Scottish Government, and in a film called "Pondlife". I was also contacted recently by producer to Robbie Williams and Madonna (Paul Lani) who told me that he was "in shock... your music is incredible... Off the chain!" Additionally, I've been a featured artist on XFM Scotland and given the chance to present my own show on BBC Radio Scotland about my influences. Recently I performed live on STV's flagship show "The Hour" and am due to appear on another TV channel later in the year. I have now signed an individual track publishing deal with Respect Music, London and am recording my debut EP.
