The best kept secret in music
Press
"Penny Nixon seems like a ballsy, worldly character, she combines the occasional vocal growl of PJ Harvey with the eccentricity of Kate Bush, sings songs inspired by HP Lovecraft and dedicates an emotionally charged song called " Dweller At The Gate" to her deceased nana. Mesmerising, Penny Nixon is completely comfortable in her world of song." - AU Magazine

Bio
Formally signed up to the teat of the devil, Penny Nixon (nee McCleery) lives and breathes her music. Whilst with her old record company (RGB/Religion Music) she worked on many different collaborations including writing and performing on Coast to Coast's 'Home' (Edel) and Rank1's 'Such is Life'(I.D.&T.) 'Home' has been featured on over 40 compilations worldwide and was MTV Dance No.1. Penny performed 'Such Is Life' at Sensation in the Ajax football stadium in Amsterdam to 44,000 people. It went Top 10 in Benelux and Scandanavia, whilst clocking a German Dance Top 10.
She also spent a sabbatical in Dublin during this time, working on a solo album within the confines of a wooden hut with Mark Murphy ( now guitarist with The Devlins). The blackbirds sang the closing days.
Back in Belfast Penny has been writing like a woman possessed. The songs above are some of her recent work recorded on her little 8-track that she calls Friend. Inspired by science fiction, love, life and the multiverse Penny has grown to understand the importance of maintaining control over her music.
