Bio

People coyote is a band out of central New Jersey with a unique blend of of rock, country, jazz, and blues. It started as a father/son acoustic project driven by ;the love of music and poetry, interest in activism, diverse cultures and world events. Today they add more instruments and attack you with a larger sound. Still most of the songs are acoustic based and "raw" sounding. They like to take you on a trip, a musical trip, that is. You may feel like you are on an island with the summer sun beating down on white sand beaches on one song, then be tranported to a small cottage down south in the dead of winter on the next song.

This is a band with something to say, exploring all the creative possibilities of a songs true potential, and constantly searching for a certain "tone" or "Pull". Thatch describes "pull" as "the feeling you get when a song tends to take on a life of its own . It can actually pull you closer to it. You might have a page of lyrics or an old demo on tape laying around collecting dust, and then you read it again, or listen to it again, on that particular day, at just the right time , and it draws you in. You end up writing a song or having a greater understanding of some lyrics for a song based on an emotion or a tone in your life that day". "Its exciting, and we love writing. We can only hope you enjoy our music as much as we enjoy making it". People Coyote was nominated for the 2007 New Music Weekly Award for "AC/Hot AC Best New Group/Duo" w/ their song "Life dance." The hit singles, "Life Dance" , "New Year" ,"Stone cottage",and "Pass On Love"have all made their way to radio charts.

1. What is your stage/band name? Does it have a special meaning?
Where does it come from?

People Coyote stands for freedom of the natural order of things.
It represents everything that was real and soviergn before the modern
way of living took hold of us.
There was a time when love and family were the primary focus' in ones life,
when time spent with a sister or brother was of more value than time
spent with one's new ipod.
So in a ,not so literal sense of the word, People coyote hints of
people heading back to the wild.
Another early meaning of the name represented a "power to the people"
type of induendo.
Like the lyrics say in the People Coyote song "War" ; "The masses are
walkin' down the street with a fearless leader",
People Coyote also represents "the people" taking a stand against
corruption and the "fear instilling" personalities of "big business".
hence , People 'COYOTE' = People 'WILD'.
This name was originally the title of a piece of writing talking about
this concept of "the people".
2. How would you describe your music to people? (This is not a
short answer. Discuss it. Please include information regarding
genre/style/lyrics/etc)

People Coyote is a father/son started acoustic based project
with rock, blues overtones and hints of
jazz and country while touching on roots of americana. Modern touches
of a son and ageless influences of a father.
Two wonderfuly different writing styles that mesh together to form a
post modern, politically influenced, emotionally charged rythem, with
everday life's ups and downs of everyday people. The lyrics reflect on
all of this and it dosen't end there. It's always ongoing. We are
always learning and listening for new sounds that will drive us to
create more and to take the listener to new heights of knowledge of
the world around. We bring light to the dark side of issues of world
affairs in the relationship of two distant lovers longing for touch
and love.

3. Where are you from? Where do you live? What is your musical history?

"People Coyote is from NJ. We live in Wall township and Jackson.
We also record in both of these places. My father has a lifetime of
musical, artistic foundations never straying
too far away from his musical roots. Playing saxophone at an early age
led him to other instruments like drums and piano finally settling
down on guitar and vocals. I remember at an early age , sitting on the
basement stairs, watching as "The Graham Band" would perform.
i, on the other hand have always been an artist making clay figures,
drawing in all medias and acting out the parts of tv show / movie
characters. It wasn't untill recently , that i started focusing more
on musical aspirations."
(Ken, aka Thatch)

4. Have you recorded any CDs/albums? EP's? (Which studios? Who
>> produced them? Please provide dates/names of albums and/or popular tracks

People Coyote has recorded a cd in 2007 and 2008.The full length album
features ten original songs
all written by Dave and Ken (thatch). The album, titled ; "Life Dance"
is the first of many albums planned from
this dynamic duo. Dave and Thatch decided at one point that they
wanted to find a local studio nearby where they
could just record a couple songs together back in 2006.They've always
wanted to collaborate and thoug
