"The Status Foe EP: A Welcome Entry into the Austin Music Scene"

"The easiest way to describe Peoplefood is by calling them a jam band. Their sound fusion of rock, jazz, and at times reggae-rhythms best falls into such a category. But branding them purely as such is quite a disservice....For the most part this is thanks to frontman Byrne Rock, whose soul tainted lyrical delivery and introspective songwriting are the cornerstone for the framework of The Status Foe EP. The six-track release is a mellow and welcome entry into the Austin music scene."

"Song Reviews: Call it Uneasy Listening"

"I noticed the word soul after having listened to three of their songs and I thought YES! This is soul music. Not in the gospel-R&B Motown sense of the word. But in that there's a feeling of life experience and sincerity imbued in these songs. Listen to "Losing Sleep"...and you'll know what Coldplay would sound like if Coldplay had a soul...."What We're Not" has that same laidback yet restless-soul quality that made Jeff Buckley's limited output so compelling....the few songs I've heard definitely display a tasteful sense of experience, dissatisfaction, and a need to push for something better. Call it uneasy listening."

Bio

Founding members Byrne Rock and Ryan Williams have known each other since 3rd grade, and became acquainted with guitarist Mike Pope while attending college at UT Austin. The three started working together in mid 2007. The group solidified as a four piece in the early part of 2008 with the addition of drummer Eitan Levy. In late spring, the band began work on its first self-produced effort, The Status Foe EP.

Last summer the group got the heartbreaking news that Eitan would be returning to his native Israel at the outset of fall. Saddened but undeterred, the remaining three members searched until finding a solid replacement, Chris Mitchell. In November 2008, Mike Pope returned to California to continue working in L.A.

The Status Foe EP was released in February 2009, which fans consider a tasty amuse-bouche of all the Peoplefood that is to come. Described as "uneasy listening," drummer Chris Mitchell, guitarist Ryan Williams, and bassist/vocalist Byrne Rock can be seen and heard rocking Austin's stages at least once a month.
