Bio

PercaDu is a young dynamic Israeli percussion duo that has generated worldwide interest and enthusiasm through their unique style of virtuoso and energetic playing.
PercaDu’s repertoire consists of compositions written by the duo itself, arrangements for percussion of classical pieces by Bach, Chopin, Ravel, Grieg, Tchaikovsky and others, and original contemporary music written by Israeli composers (Avner Dorman, Yaron Gottfried, Lior Nabok, Yehezkel Raz and others) and composers in the international music scene such as Per Noorgard (Denmark), Nigel Westlake (Australia), Andres Koppel (Denmark) and Salvador Brotons (Spain).
Since forming PercaDu in 1996 in collaboration with Alon Bor (Principal percussionist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra), Tomer Yariv and Adi Morag have won several prizes in international competitions, such as the first prize at the Percussive Arts Society International Competition in Columbus Ohio, and the Jury prize as well as the Audience Prize at the International Percussion Competition in Luxembourg. PercaDu was ensemble in residence at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, where it won the Academy Chamber Music Competition. In 2001 the duo won first prize as "Best chamber music ensemble" at the Aviv Music Competitions in Israel, and received Israel's Minister of Culture Prize for Excellency in Music. Additional prizes include scholarships from the America – Israel Cultural Foundation both as soloists as well as a duo since 1993.
In the year 2001, the Duo was taken under the handling of the Jerusalem Music Centre in the foundation of Maestro Isaac Stern. The collaboration with JMC led to the production of their premiere CD “PercaDu – Works for Marimba and Percussion” and commissions of several pieces composed and dedicated especially for PercaDu.
In December 2002, Tomer and Adi had graduated the prestigious soloist class of the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark, after being tutored by teachers such as Professor Bent Lylloff, Safri Duo, and Gert Mortensen.
These days, the ensemble is dividing its activities between Israel and tours in Europe, the US and the Far East both in recitals and as soloists with orchestras such as the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, The Israel Symphony Orchestra and others.
