Bio

Band Bio: Perestroyka is composed of three accomplished and experienced musicians: James Abbott (guitars, back-up vocals), Cameron Fitzpatrick (bass, lead vocals), and Vincent Russell (percussion, back-up vocals). The three formed the band in middle school, though they had known each other since elementary. Their musicianship has only improved since then and promises to continue with their upcoming graduation from high school. The band takes their music very seriously and hopes to someday make it their career. The band name Perestroyka comes from the Russian word "perestroika," which means "new ways." They stress that it has nothing to do with the Soviet Union's Perestroika, which was an economic restructuring of the Communist empire in the 1980s; they chose the name merely for the meaning and uniqueness of the word. The band's main influences are hard rock, progressive, alternative, and classic rock bands such as Dream Theater, Muse, and Rush. They also greatly appreciate other genres like blues, classical, and metal. However, Perestroyka has a very unique sound and style that "sounds like nothing else currently on the market" according to renown producer Jason Frahm. With the release of their second EP "Anxiety," Pererstroyka hopes to progress into mainstream recognition with intimate guitars, melodic vocals, riffing bass, and thundering drums.
