PERET celebrates the 50 years of success of LA RUMBA CATALANA!!!
In 1957 peret recorded his first songs, those singles /rpm with two songs on every side.
Since than he has offered us, year after year, authetic hits of the dancefloor! Those hits started travelling around the world as a fashion, developped to a musical genre and are now memory of the Latin music.
The funny way of earning some additional money by recording some hits to pay for the parties changed into a way-of-life. Now nobody can stop the rumba, it marked a style between the youth during various generations.
But not everything the shines is RUMBA CATALANA, there are plenty of rumbas everyone with their own caracter!
The RUMBA CATALANA has one recognized KING, everyone agrees that for his creativity, way of communication, number of hits, this king is PERET. Young catalan gypsies from Barcelona of the 50ties, surprised during the franco pained Spain. They created a style that mixed flamenco with Elvis Presley, Perez prado, Beny Moré and everyhting else, as artists like PERET know how to carry nearly every style into RUMBA CATALANA! A miracle inside gypsie music, for sure the most urban, with a direct and funny style sometimes not so far away from POP. Borriquito como tú was danced acroos the whole world.
Today PERET, with mor than 70 years, is more creative and productive than ever! He continues sharing energy and wisdom combined with sensuality, fun and surrealism!
In his last album Que levante el dedo he gives a description of the faces of the womex today in the streets, a sensitive description of the actual social reality.
2008 will be an important year for PERET: he will publish his first book of Catalan Rumba and prepare his new album and also his new show 50 years of RUMBA CATALANA
