"Cougar Music Video To Be Filmed"

OLYMPIA--There's a good opportunity for Washington State fans to become a part of Cougar football history this weekend. Filmmaker Jeff McQuarrie will be shooting a music video on Friday to be included in his soon-to-be-released documentary on WSU football, ?Legends of the Palouse.?

McQuarrie, a Cougar alum, will be filming one of the Northwest?s hottest rock bands, PerfecTragedy?and their audience?in Olympia as they sing ?Can?t Beat the Cougars,? during a 90-minute concert. And thanks to WSU coach Bill Doba, the band will be properly attired in Cougar jerseys.

Footage from the concert will appear in McQuarrie?s much anticipated film on legendary Cougar moments and players, due to be released next fall. The filmmaker has interviewed and filmed a who?s-who of Washington State football for his project.

The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13 at Mountain View Church of the Nazarene, 940 Israel Rd, Tumwater, WA 98501. A second show will be held on Saturday, 8:00 p.m., May 14 at First United Methodist Church of Olympia, 1224 Legion Wy SE, Olympia WA 98501. Tickets are $6 at the door, and PerfecTragedy is a Christian rock band, so you can bring the whole family.

To add to the WSU theme of the evening, Cougar mascot Butch will be in attendance signing autographs for the kids.

Bio

The band began making music in the winter of 2002. They formed at the last minute to make up the music portion at a youth retreat. They enjoyed playing together so much that they decided to form a real band. At the time however, the band was not complete. While Jeremy, Ryan, Chris, and Chad had enough fun that weekend to kill a horse, they knew that they needed a true front person. So the search was on.

Immediately Chad though of Holli, the lead singer of another band he had been in a couple of years earlier. But the rest of the guys did not want to be in an "angry chick rock band." So they continued the search. After a few weeks and no one truly able to match vocally what the band did musically. Chad finally talked them into giving Holli an audition and the fit was perfect.

They quickly landed their first gig but without a name. They settled on a temporary name; Crashing Through. This is what they went by for the better part of two years. They began writing incredible, well received hard rock music. Opening for several national acts and playing some of the finest venues in the Northwest.

But in the summer of 2003 Chad decided to leave the band for family obligations. The band was not sure whether they were supposed to continue or not. They decided they would try one gig without their beloved lead guitarist and see how it went. It wasn't pretty pretty, however, there wan amazing young guitarist playing in the house band named Kenny. After the show Ryan aked him if he wanted to audition for Crashing Through. He answered with a hearty, "YES," and the last piece was in place.

They continued writing and playing for another six months before getting into the studio to lay down their first full length album. That's when they decided it was time to shed their temporary name that treated them so well and release the album under their new name; perfectragedy. And the rest, as they say, is history.
