The wealth of hard rock bands on Staten Island really is mind-boggling. Perfect Syn, a quartet formed in 2005 but just now recording its debut album, bridges the gap between well-loved metal outfits both old and new, judging by the pictures of both System of a Down and a fresh-faced, long-haired Metallica. The band's page also sports a picture of Black Sabbath--and it's the influence of that band that seems to inform "United Empire," where a "War Pigs"-like proto-metal riff from bassist Mike Smith and guitarist Joe Pennachio is updated with a Gatling-speed double kick drum attack from Anthony Manetta and a raging anti-consumer sermon from Zeno Rodrigo, who sings "United Empire flames on past/ sells for hire all this cash." We're waiting for this band's gorilla gig on Wall Street.

Bio

Perfect Syn is a four piece Hard Rock/Metal band based in Staten Island, NYC. The band was formed in late September 2005 by singer Zeno Rodrigo. Zeno had posted flyers in the local college and various places looking for other musicians who shared the same drive and dedication as he did. Bassist Mike Smith, and guitarist Joe Pennachio had joined within a couple of weeks and the core of Perfect Syn was born. After having personal differences with their drummer, they replaced him with Anthony Manetta, who made the band tighter both musically and personally.
Perfect Syn has a unique sound because of the many different band influences such as Rage Against the Machine, Taking Back Sunday, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Guns and Roses, and countless others. Although some of our influences are different than one another, the music blends together to produce a raw, unconventional mix of hard rock and metal.
Following a solid three months of practice, they played their first show at Arlene’s Grocery in Manhattan. Their turn out was great and they went on to play many shows around the city. Currently Perfect Syn is playing all over the tri-state area and is in the process of looking for tours and industry management. They are also planning on recording their debut album in the near future.
Perfect Syn’s goal is to play as many shows as possible, broadening their fan base and spreading the message of speaking out on emotional and political issues which plague every society.
