"Perimeter Breach - Spy Or Die"

John Perimeter finally came around, ashes in the wind catching the bits of moisture that remained on his leathery face. His beard was under less control than ever.

No one had anticipated the recipe for this perfect storm. Too many cars on the road, too many greedy dream-chasers clamboring over one another like a filthy cash driven game of human jenga. Where once stood cultural centers, artistic monuments and venues, now stood empty shells of crumbling commerce. Condominiums. Californians.

It wouldn't matter if you believed me when I said that time travel was real. You'd be right in the sense that the concept was never intended to come to this place and time. But John Perimeter has one shot to go back to set things right - to push Lady Fate out of the driver's seat - this insane rocket that's running on supposedly good vibes and green energy, packed to the brim with motherfuckers that want to set up shop in Austin, Texas. It is the pivotal moment - the moment when the scales of human decency were about to be outweighed by regiments of newly graduated frat-boys and excitable developers.

South by Southwest Music Festival, 2016. John Perimeter had seen this place years before, back when the International Congress on Noise and Violence hadn't even formed. Battles fought and won, but the war was still being lost.

Drawing his satellite phone out of his pocket and warming up a tube amp, he assembled his crack team of freedom fighters. They would stir up a ruckus so profound, so potent with sonic commands that they would drive away the evil from this place. Blood drawn so that only the righteous survive. An exorcism of goddamned rock and roll. A super league of musicians to whom God herself would open her galactic legs and proclaim:

"Enter, brave poets!
For thy gyft to my creation is one of great stimulation. Thou prophets of dyvine redemption, you are charged to seek these cavernous walls as a pulpit for thy holy amplyfication!"

* * *

Back on Earth, people walked by, willfully chained to each other by flashing devices. Heads down. Bound with plastic wristbands and badges of dishonor. They have not yet been enlightened, but the wave of salvation is coming. This is the epicenter. This is the plan.
