Permanent Midnight is just another loud, soft, loud rock band.
After all, how many groups out there pair melodic with abrasive, simple with intricate, visceral with tranquil?
But our sound is about more than cramming seemingly disparate elements together like eggs and ketchup. It’s about honesty and emotion, solid musicianship, introspective lyrics and sturdy, well-crafted melodies.
It’s also about the little things – the tiniest drum fill, the interplay between instruments, the vocal harmonies, the slightest of pauses between parts. These elements make the difference between a tune you’ve listened to 1,000 times before, and a fresh way of hearing something familiar.
A good friend once described our songs by saying there are parts that are really violent, and there are parts that are really beautiful, which might be the best way to sum up the sound we strive for. Or, you could simply say we make music that excites us.
