Persephone

With over 10 years experience as a professionally trained pianist and singer-songwriter, Persephone has only just started making her mark on the music industry. 

Who is Persephone?

An alternative and folk, singer-songwriter from Buckinghamshire, England who possesses what has been described as a haunting and emotional voice and is influenced by the likes of The Doors, Pink Floyd, Ben Howard, Bon Iver and Daughter.   

What does she do?

Persephone was classically trained in piano and composition from the age of 5 onwards and has completed most of her practical and theory graded exams with The Associated Board of the Royal Schools (ABRSM) at distinction grade. She has been singing since leaving her mother's womb and has successfully taken part in many talent shows as a child. She then went on to teach herself to play the guitar from the age of 14 and now has a well-rounded understanding of the acoustic and electric guitar. At college, she studied music performance and production where she first began to create her own samples and drum loops as well as gaining experience and knowledge in the live performance and music industry. She has also spent the past year teaching and couching friends and family on the piano with the aim to start her own piano tuition business in the near future. 

Has she got any experience? 

Over the past three years, Persephone has been working ferociously on her solo career by attending a number of open mic nights throughout Buckinghamshire, uploading new covers and originals to her YouTube and SoundCloud profiles and building herself an unbreakable rapport with her followers. She created her first EP, Aurora, which includes covers such as Vance Joy's 'Riptide' and Bon Iver's 'Flume' as well as her own instrumental tracks, at home all by herself in her home studio throughout the month of December 2017, just after she quit her full-time job (and only source of income) in order to pursue her dreams. 

How's the future looking?

Following the great success from the release of her first cover, 'Riptide' on SoundCloud earlier this year, Persephone is now recording and finalising her first EP of her own original tracks. The EP is still in the development stages at this time with the intentions of being followed by a tour throughout Buckinghamshire and further Counties and the release of her first music video. As well as the new EP, Persephone has also started a handful of collaboration projects with a variety of different artists that will be released later in the year.
