Pete Hanks

I can't be sure of the origins of the sounds that make up my songs. Maybe it was my dad feeding me Americana music via the band on constant repeat from the time I could listen. Maybe it was my mom exposing me to The Beatles, and showing me that a great song needs nothing more than "three chords and the truth." maybe it was my sister showing me the passion in Bono's voice when I was eleven. Or maybe it was my brother, introducing me to the darker grit of bands like the black keys and black rebel motorcycle club.

I'm also not sure when singing became my way of breathing. Though i am sure that it started with a girl. It always does.

It's all these things that make up my music. Stories on a soundtrack, told in three minutes. It's about sharing a common story. The hard times. The hope that after the struggle, the juice was worth the squeeze.
