CALIFORNIA

Written By: Chris Breen

Just dive in her eyes
They’re sparkling blue, clear like the sea
Her long hair flowing free
A smile so bright
You need shades at night

Her tanned pretty face
On her project your dreams
Everyone’s silver screen
With Hollywood style
She drives guys wild…

They say she’s called California
And you’re always gonna love and want her
Gold hair like the sun
You’ll know she’s the one
From first sight, and they’re right
I’m dreaming of California
From the moment that I first saw her
So wild and so free
Like life’s meant to be
She’s the one, and she’s fun… Whoa oh…

She drives down the coast
That body beautiful
Cruising with a tank that’s full
Top pulled right down
Heads turning round

As hot as the sun
A jewel lying on the beach
Tantalising, out of reach
In this Land of the Free
She makes a slave of me…

They say she’s called California…

Something Different

Written By: Chris Breen

V1)
There was something different in the way you kissed goodbye
I caught sight of quite a distant look, faded smile in your eyes
You used to look back to our house, whilst climbing in the car
Now looking back, I guess that you’d already gone so far

Was it really such a nightmare coming back to share our dream
Just like watching endless replays on a dusty TV screen?
And now you’ve gone, your footprints still forever tread
Go round and round and round and round and round inside my head

Ch)
Could I have been…ooh… something different?
Could I have done, for you… something different?
Or is it ‘something different’ that she makes you feel
Whilst I’m the ‘same old, same old’ with diminishing appeal?

V2)
There was something different in the way you’d close the gate
Like you’d become a prisoner - were dreaming of escape
There was something different in the way you’d climb the stairs
Like you were dreading being in the bed that we still shared

Looking back I guess it pointed to the pain that lay ahead
Where I saw a bed of roses, you a bed of thorns instead
But now you’ve gone, there’s something from you that I need to know
For round and round and round and round and round these thoughts still go…

Ch)
Could I have been… something different?
Could I have done, for you… something different?
Or is it ‘something different’ that she makes you feel
Whilst I’m the ‘same old, same old’ with diminishing appeal?

Would you have stayed… for something different?
And would you remain… with something different?
Could I be ‘something different’ and have your love again?
Or is something different someone different, (and) me I’m just the same?
