“Voyage to Ecstasy is enchanting in a trance-inducing, ghostly kind of way,” writes Kyle Cassidy in Hipfish. But a rollicking trance it is, ranging from exotic rock of “Afghan Mountain” to the dynamic arrangement of the quixotic “Second Nature;” from the sweet vocals of “Oasis” to the blistering guitars and political outcry of “Homeland.” The final track on this voyage, “On Ecstasy” rides through time like a hit from the ‘60s remodeled with important elusive lyrics cast in a shimmering modern soundscape. Well-known as an environmental activist, Peter Huhtala cuts loose here with an extraordinary collection of his songs. He is joined on several cuts by the Northwest legend, Joey Patenaude. All aboard the Voyage to Ecstasy.
