"Vibe To This : Peter Kirk - Chasing Rainbows EP"

Sometimes a Monday calls for some simple new-age pop feel-good music. Peter Kirk wrote, produced, and released his first EP late in 2010 titled "Chasing Rainbows". Though Peter has had a love for music his entire life, he's only recently decided that it's time to spread his music. These tracks are great and they bring back memories of blasting Phil Collins while out on the quad. - www.vibetothis.com

Bio

People often say that everything happens for a reason. If this is true, than the birth of the artist known as Peter Kirk is an example of such irony. Frustrated with juggling the schedules and personalities that often come with orchestrating a band, Peter Kirk took his talents and production know how and set out to make the album he always wanted but on his own.

In the spring of 2010, copies of Peter Kirk's self-recorded and self-released Chasing Rainbows EP began circulating among friends and local music bloggers. Inside was an eleven-song record of highly produced and polished studio pop songs reminiscent of Hugh Padgham's work with Genesis and The Police during the 1980s. After it's release, Peter began playing solo shows locally around lower Manhattan and Brooklyn with two keyboards and a harmonizer.

The album was never accompanied by a large marketing effort and never even saw it’s own page on iTunes! Even still, it wasn't long before industry giants took notice. When a copy of Chasing Rainbows landed in the hands of renown music video director Rik Cordero (famous for his work with The Roots, Kid Cudi, Yelawolf and dozens more) he immediately called Peter asking to work with him. "I'd never heard anything like it before. Especially in the current musical landscape" explains Cordero. "Peter is an amazing talent. There is no one else making music that sounds like him." Their collaboration eventually produced a series of music videos, many of which have still yet to be released. Following the video shoots, Rick proposed to have Peter record the score for his full-length summer thriller, Starla. The film was released at Lincoln Center to wide critical acclaim and the relationship between Cordero and Kirk simply grew further.

Today, Peter Kirk is repackaging the record that caught the industry ear and officially releasing a condensed version of the project entitled under the new title Trial & Error EP. “There was no concept when I sat down to write the album, there was no grand plan. I just wanted to see if I could produce the sound I heard in my head when I wrote the music” Kirk describes. “Trial & Error was the first song I recorded, the title resembles what I think of the album and it’s writing process. So to have it as the title just makes sense to me.”

Look for Trail & Error EP to be released early winter 2011.
