At the end of the day, the one thing I have learned is that the song is king. When words, melody and groove seamlessly come together, I know I'm on to something.
I enjoy collaborating and have been lucky to work with some truly talented people; there is a real buzz in the room when two or more people are vibing
off of each other and the juices really start to flow.
As a player/producer I have learned how not to make a fool of myself on the guitar and
bass, and I can usually get
what I need out of a keyboard. Logic and ProTools have changed what a demo should sound like and I enjoy working with them, but like I said, I believe in the power of the song, and for me the true test will always be, Can you sing it with just the guitar and still move people?" If the answer is yes, chances are its a winner.
