Lyrics

The lady

Written By: Peter Mackay

The Lady

She's never been know to be loud and rarely goes out after ten
Crowds are her haven, this popular raven
Her companions are women and men

She travels by night and by day, she carries a name known to all
From paupers to princes you'll often catch glimpses
Of the Lady you hope never calls

You'll meet her someday that's for sure
The day that you don't have a cure
And you'll pray her visit doesn't last too long

She walks with her eyes looking down or sits starring out into space
The stories that's told make you shiver and cold
And she always wears more than one face

She doesn't like sunshine or crowds, she suffers in the rain and the cold
She tries hard to smile, succeeds for a while
Her soul mates, the young and the old

You'll meet her someday that's for sure
The day that you don't have a cure
And you'll pray her visit doesn't last too long

Her past never seems to get told, her future's too hard to express
Her life is in tatters, there's not much that matters
To the lady called....loneliness
