It's is my extreme pleasure to know and have experienced the Artistry of Peter Sackaney regarding his album "Hiding Behind the Sun".
Peter and I met at Old Woman's Bay, Lake Superior, near Wawa, as Peter was playing his drum for the Great Spirit. We became instant friends.

I later aired Peter's music numerous times on my Broadcast radio Morning show. The public response was incredible and positive, which demonstrated that a number of cuts from the album should be sent DMDS direct to radio.

As a New York Publisher I also see great value in the Artistry of Mr. Sackaney. His Music is like a modernist Bob Dylan with a Native flavor. The album has deep and soulful meanings and feelings that are hypnotizing.
Mr. Sackaney has also a very kind heart and was only too willing to become involved in an international Grass roots project of Music to help others in America. We are proud to know him and work in any capacity. I would hope that any and all encouragement to help Peter Sackaney progress with his Album, Hiding Behind the Sun and his future musical endeavors is an excellent idea as Peter has already created wonderful Art with his Music and will certainly create a wonderful body of works with encouragement.
Kindest Regards,

"February 1, 2010 Indigenous Foundation Radio Program"

In 2009, we first featured Mr. Sackaney’s music on our program where we highlighted his album “Hiding Behind the Sun.” It was inspiration to hear the story behind his music as well as, an important opportunity to share his culture and public service with our listening audience. Each track allows the listener to connect to his life and his artistic ability through a professionally produced high quality product. The broadcast also prompted some of our listening audience to reach out to Indigenous Foundation to share how his music touched them. Also in the conversation we were able to share the roadmap of how Mr. Sackaney’s music connects to his life. It is paramount that Indigenous peoples have their music as an outlet to share and discover the world they are a part of. It also allows them to create awareness about the life, struggles and beauty that exists not only in their personal or tribal world but, also in the world they are connected to outside of their tribal relations and boundaries. Clearly, Mr. Sackaney’s music has provided him this opportunity and I would hope more ability to create thought this medium is afforded to him.

I highly recommend that you support more musical ventures by Mr. Sackaney. Giving him the opportunity to create more music would not only support his journey as an artist and his passion to tell the Indigenous story through song as many Indigenous people have done for many generations but, it would also provide the ability for him to enrich the lives of all who come into contact with is work. Thank you for taking a moment to review how his story and his work is well deserving of your support to create more musical projects.

Hiding Behind the Sun~2008
Under a Different Day ~ 2011

Peter Sackaney, hometown Constance Lake, Northern Ontario, Canada has a style which is unique and all his own. He has been compared to Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. While he is honored to be compared to such high caliber artists he delivers unique vocals, and original lyrics/music that is based on years of experience as a singer, musician and songwriter.

“The album has a deep and soulful meaning & feeling that is hypnotizing.”
John David – Hart

“Peter has no problem expressing himself in his lyrics and he sings them with a moody, grainy delivery.”
Billy Herzig – Zig Productions

Currently in the works is his next CD titled “Under A Different Day” Thank you to the Aboriginal Arts Council, for assisting with this endeavor. Also under development is a video for one of the new songs on the CD.
