Peter Tigchelaar

Peter’s musical roots are deep, grounding him in the Niagara Escarpment and the Hamilton area, where he has been singing and playing music since childhood. By the time he’d reached his teen years, the music of the Beatles, Bach, Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel were significant influences.

Writing his own songs for as long as he’s been singing and playing guitar, Peter’s style is a complex mixture of genres reflecting the many influences he loves. His clear strong tenor voice is a distinctive feature of his melodic approach to song writing. Rock, blues, gospel and reggae are all alive in his eclectic tunes, played passionately on guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and Hammertone.

Peter’s signature style includes thoughtful lyrics with engading melodies. Whether they soothe the soul or challenge the mind, these are songs that appeal on many levels and reward careful listening.

His new recording Gracious Window is a collection of 12 original songs he has been playing live around Hamilton for many years. Produced and recorded in Hamilton, the album features seasoned local musicians Bill Dillon, Jamie Oakes, and Carl Horton.
