"Common Man Quote"

"Just a quick note to say "Bravo" for your album. Beautiful concept, writing and playing ... nice recording, too. I enjoyed listening to it!"

"Peter Zimmer Quintet:Common Man"

Jazz Trap-ster, Peter Zimmer & his solid quintet, treat us to a thesis of his original music. With Peter at the drums, the dissertation is edifying. The group displays a myriad of tonal nuances & timbral effects which they articulate @ their behest.

I must include as well a kudo about Zimmer's original
compositions, exemplifying the depth to which he's capable to write, & his ability to emphasize a spontaneous exchange of artistic musical ideas, for our instruction. Right on Peter!

Bio

The Pete Zimmer Quintet is comprised of some of the finest straight-ahead jazz artists in New York City. While the group maintains its original sound, they do rely heavily on the master jazz musicians that have preceded them for their concepts of music and jazz in a quintet setting. Some of these musicians include Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Clifford Brown, Cedar Walton, Thelonius Monk, and Charlie Parker.

The members of the Pete Zimmer Quintet have been fortunate to work with artists such as Benny Golson, Roy Haynes, Brad Mehldau, George Garzone, Betty Carter, Ron Carter, Joe Lovano, Louis Hayes, and Eric Reed, among many others.

In February of 2003, the Pete Zimmer Quintet recorded its debut album “Common Man.” Their record captures the unique essence of the group performing six originals by the bandleader/drummer, as well as showcasing the compositional and improvisational skills of the other members of the band.
