Bio

What to say about a band that started in the small mountain town of Glenwood Springs, CO. Possibly, the best quote to sum it up comes from the Police Department of Glenwood following a Petrol show. After winning Battle of the Band 2009 Petrol played on the main stage for the headlining act. After their 80 minute onslaught of original material the police were prompted to say the following at a chamber of commerce meeting,” I don't know what the promoter’s problem is getting some damn headbanging band up there. Why couldn't they have got some nice Jimmy Buffet cover band? Instead they have this loud punk band playing getting everyone riled up and out of control. They are horrible."

Petrol has a unique blend of punk / grunge / hardcore / metal that is difficult to describe. Basically, they are not "punk" enough to be punk, not "heavy" or "evil" enough to be metal, and don't live in the Pacific Northwest thus ruling out grunge. Instead think of Petrol as a unique hybrid blend. Influences range from Nirvana, Black Flag, Sex Pistols, Korn, Sepultura, Weezer, Green Day, The Beatles, yada yada yada.

What really sets Petrol apart is the intense feeling of punk music, with song structure and hooks that stick in your head (a la pop music). Petrol is said to rock so hard they are studied by geologists.
