Pets with Pets, fronted by the enigmatic and inaccessible Zayd Thring, were entrancing, in a caustic fashion. At times the vocals burn and the guitars don’t, well, make sense, but through sheer energy and the feeling of “otherness” it’s difficult not to love this band. Pitch black sonics and feedback on feedback is given clarity by Johno Stillnox’s drill quick drumming. What doesn’t make sense about this band is that it does make sense. Their predicted journey to popularity was analogous to the way the crowd in front of the stage during their set grew from a couple of boogying earthwalkers, to a full blown pit for the last song.”

“Their music is dreamy, atmospheric and melancholic which will put you into a joy induced coma until you hear what sounds like manic barking over the top of it all. It’s like keyboard music where the notes just shouldn’t go together but they do… at other points the songs break out into a rave frenzy and in others anything goes. The drumming is more than worthy of a mention here. The drummer (who looks like Nick Cave mixed with the Bearded one off of The Mighty Boosh) has a sound that’s a mix between free jazz and rave…”
