"Hold It Down"

"Despite a hint of southern flavor on Hold It Down, you aren’t going to find Pharaoh Mac & DMT rocking an Alabama Jersey. In fact, you are more likely to find them donning Ryan Braun Jerseys as the dynamic duo hail from Milwaukee. Although Wisconsin is quite a long way away form the South, it doesn’t stop the Booth newcomers from channeling their inner UGK. Sure the cut doesn’t scream candy paint and cups of lean, but there is definitely a southern influence. Lets start with the pair’s beatsmith, DMT, who crafts a slick production with a soulful vocal sample, splashed with a powerful guitar section, making this the perfect song for crusin’ in your caddy. Mac has a more aggressive style than southern emcees are accustomed to, but the fluidity he demonstrates, rattling of bars with confidence and ease, make me crave cornbread and grits. Want to hear what other distant lands Pharaoh Mac and DMT draw from to form their own unique, energetic style? Then peep their full-length album, Loyalty and Betrayal, available now via iTunes." - DJ Booth

"Frozen"

"DMT uses a light touch behind the boards, serving up a subdued synth instrumental as his mic-rocking partner struggles to repair the burned bridges between him and the woman he loves. Dalia‘s hook vocals round out this heartfelt cut. If you like what you’re hearing stay tuned for further details on the headliners’ next joint LP, which currently lacks both a title and a drop date." - DJ Booth

"War With the Devil"

"Pharaoh Mac & DMT, an emcee and producer duo from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, have released War With the Devil, a standout selection from their forthcoming album, SYMBOLS, due out later this summer. This is their fourth feature at The DJBooth, the first since Frozen hit our homepage nine months ago." - DJ Booth

"Stream Pharaoh Mac & DMT's Infectious Sophomore LP, "Loyalty & Betrayal""

"The Milwaukee producer/rapper duo Pharaoh Mac & DMT specialize in the kind of all-inclusive pop-rap that critics tend to snub even though audiences can’t get enough of it. It’s a sound that’s deceptively difficult to pull off; where stars like Lupe Fiasco and B.o.B have an army of songwriting and production hands at their disposal to help them polish their earworms, Pharaoh Mac & DMT craft theirs with only the resources of a small, independent act—all of which makes the persistent catchiness of the duo’s new sophomore album Loyalty & Betrayal that much more impressive. This is sticky, hooky stuff—think Fiasco at his most “Show Goes On,” or Big Sean without the incessant punchlines.

Loyalty & Betrayal came out this week; you can stream it below, courtesy of Bandcamp, where you can also snag free downloads of several of the album’s peppiest cuts. " - Shepherd Express

"Pharaoh Mac & DMT: Loyalty & Betrayal"

"As some of you loyal readers know I like to listen to stuff before posting it for the simple reason that I would be lying to you if I said something was Certified fresH when in fact I never listened to it. There have been a few occasions where I just new it was going to be dope and posted it before checking myself but never with a first time KN appearance. Enter Pharaoh Mac & DMT. Sometimes it takes me a little longer than usual to get to a project and Pharaoh Mac & DMT’s Loyalty & Betrayal is one of those that I honestly did not have the time to sit down and digest until today. I wish I had listened when it first came across my desk though. The production is dope and rhymes on point, this is a great introduction to the two and definitely has me looking forward to more. You should definitely stream and cop Loyalty & Betrayal below, do yourself a favor tonight." - Kevin Nottingham

"WATCH: Musical tribute to MECCA Floor, Milwaukee's future"

"A hip-hop artist and the man who helped restore the historic MECCA Floor are turning that effort into an inspiration for a Milwaukee renaissance.

"Work 2 Do" by Pharaoh Mac & DMT evokes Milwaukee's hard-working ethos and a new spirit in the city. It also connects to the Milwaukee Bucks' historic past in the former MECCA Arena and getting the city to become more.

Ben Koller helped make the return of the MECCA Floor to public prominence a reality. It was the pop-art hardwood where Milwaukee Bucks teams became contenders for two decades.

Part of the lyrical message, amidst the skyline, blue-and-gold Milwaukee flag, blue-collar workers, Miller Park and the MECCA floor, is this:

"Now is the time to live your full potential in the city you call home, because home is where your heart is, and where your heart is, is where your full potential lives. Stand up for yourself and your dreams, and live big and tell everybody what you've got to do.

"Milwaukee, stand up. We've got work to do. Let's go!"" - WTMJ 4

"Pharoah Mac & DMT Work It Out In New Video Highlighting Milwaukee - See more at: http://www.radiomilwaukee.org/music/pharoah-mac-dmt-work-it-out-new-video-highlighting-milwaukee#sthash.vcqvlNWY.dpuf"

"This past Thursday, 88Nine hosted the launch party for the Work 2 Do Campaign. The campaign was organized by Our MECCA, an organization founded to bring awareness to the iconic basketball floor designed by Robert Indiana. The Work 2 Do campaign's ethos is "Living Your Full Potential in the City You Call Home...and doing it Now!" Following the Mayor's introduction, Our MECCA group founder Ben Koller introduced the campaign's video and song featuring Milwaukee's Pharoah Mac & DMT. The song "Work 2 Do" was co-produced by Jon Frost & Isaac Chevako (DMT) and the video was co-directed by Co-Directed by Philly FlyBoy & Ben Koller and highlights the various spots in Milwaukee. The track uses a sample of The Isley Brothers' 1972 classic song "Work To Do." From Youtube: The Work2Do initiative was born out of the Mecca floor project, which celebrated a successful collaboration between a major sports franchise and a controversial pop artist, resulting in a culturally significant art piece that helped bring national awareness to Milwaukee. We believe that great things are possible through projects that bring people from different career, cultural, and artistic backgrounds together. We've got #Work2Do! - See more at: http://www.radiomilwaukee.org/music/pharoah-mac-dmt-work-it-out-new-video-highlighting-milwaukee#sthash.vcqvlNWY.dpuf" - Radio Milwaukee

"EXCLUSIVE: STREAM PHARAOH MAC & DMT’S “DRIFT” FEATURING GREATEST LAKES"

"Though there have always been assertions—yes, sometimes with proof—that Milwaukee musicians on the whole are unable and unwilling to venture beyond prominently-drawn genre boundaries and are hesitant to collaborate with unfamiliar partners, there seems to be a building case suggesting the contrary. It’s quite possible that 2015 could go down as the year of the crossover song in Milwaukee music. Besides being indoctrinated as full-fledged Group Of The Altos member, Klassik’s verses on “Fucks With Us” make it the standout song from a standout record. Soul Low recently called upon rapper Lorde Fred33 to kick “I Can Write A Poem” up a few notches, and they joined forces with WebsterX on “Heard It All Before” one EP earlier. Meanwhile, jazz quartet Three. Stacks. Eliot regularly volunteers to back area hip-hop acts.

The latest instance of crossover collaboration in Milwaukee’s ever-evolving music sphere is “Drift,” a song by Pharaoh Mac & DMT that finds the rapper and recent Miltown Beatdown runner-up producer seeking sonic support from Greatest Lakes. Isaac Chevako (aka DMT) became friends with Brian Steinseifer and Josiah Werning of Greatest Lakes when the three worked together. In finding SYMBOLS, the duo’s forthcoming album, had a sound DMT described as “folk-rap,” it seemed obvious to call upon Greatest Lakes to add some vocal color to a song.

On this, the eve of summer’s true beginning, “Drift” is warm, with Greatest Lakes’ trademark wave of vocal harmony woven into a laid back DMT beat and hazy, augmented Pharaoh Mac lines. SYMBOLS is on the way, but this is the first sample of what’s sure to be an interesting genre-bending release. In the meantime, dim those cubicle lights, sit back in that office chair, and say hello to summer by streaming “Drift,” only at Milwaukee Record." - Milwaukee Record
